Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has much to offer fans, from fun mini games based on filler content of the anime to epic, intense battles waged with the fate of the world on the line. Of all the foes faced by Goku and his friends, Majin Buu was by far the most ferocious, deadly, and unpredictable. Although many before him have had multiple forms, Majin Buu differs because each of his forms carry drastically in not just appearance and power, but in personality as well. Players will face all of these forms at some point during their quest to keep the world safe, so what exactly are these forms?

For those unaware, Majin Buu is a primordial, evil force which once roamed the cosmos destroying planets. When he is summoned by the evil Babidi, he resumes this rampage. In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotplayers will take control of the Z Fighters during their many encounters with Majin Buu. His many forms represent different aspects of his being which are separated and split into separate entities, meaning some are benevolent in nature, while others are nothing but pure evil. So in what way, then, will all of these forms appear in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot?

Innocent Buu

Long ago, the true form of Majin Buu absorbed the Grand Supreme Kai. In doing so, he became the fat, playful blob that he is at his introduction in Dragon Ball Z rather than the maniacal monster he started as. Though referred to as innocent, Buu follows the commands of Babidi, committing many atrocities shortly after he arrived on Earth. Buu proves to be extremely powerful, defeating Gohan with ease, and capable of regenerating from any wound, a trait shown when he recovers from Vegeta's final explosion technique. Later, Innocent Buu splits into two parts, one made of good and one made of evil. Good Buu looks identical to Innocent Buu, but no longer contains the evil he was born with.

Players will get to face this form of Buu several times. Innocent Buu has a brief encounter with Gohan early on, but the fight is very one sided. Buu is challenged by other warriors who are much more capable, though. Players should be about to fight Buu as Majin Vegeta before he makes his final sacrifice, Super Saiyan 3 Goku shortly after he returns from Other World, and Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks, all in challenging and unique fights. At one point, Good Buu fights evil Buu, so although it is unconfirmed, it is possible that players may briefly play Good Buu in this battle. Only time will tell.

Evil Buu

Evil Buu is the result of Innocent Buu splitting his being into two. While Good Buu looks identical to Innocent Buu, Evil Buu is pure evil, taking on the appearance of a skinnier, taller, and more gray version of Buu than the chubby, pink monster fans had seen thus far. A recent scan showed all of Buu's forms, and although it is somewhat difficult to see, Evil Buu is there. He has yet to appear in any gameplay trailers or screenshots aside from this scan, so exactly what role he will play is unknown at this time.

Evil Buu's stint is a very short one, albeit rather deadly. After exacting revenge on the gunman that made Buu so angry he split himself in two, Evil Buu fights Good Buu. This battle is easily one by Evil Buu, who reabsorbs Good Buu back into him. Rather than returning to Innocent Buu, however, this fusion gives birth to a new foe, known as Super Buu.

Super Buu

Super Buu is the most sophisticated form of Buu, able to form more intellectual sentences and strategies. Additionally, though he maintains Evil Buu's skinny and tall stature, he looks less emaciated and returns to his pink color. This form of Buu proves most troublesome, as he continually absorbs fighters and grows stronger. Super Buu is an incredibly deadly and heartless foe, and possibly the strongest Dragon Ball Z villain of all. His first attack in this form is the Human Extinction Attack, a beam which splits and kills every human on Earth in seconds.

Super Buu also has some pretty intense fights, and all of them are with confirmed playable characters. Players will first face this monstrosity as Gotenks in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and then again as Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks on Kami's Lookout. After this, players will take control of fan favorite Ultimate Gohan, battling against Super Buu both before and after he absorbs Gotenks. Buu absorbs Gohan and has a brief fight with Goku as well. Players will then get to play Vegito, easily the most powerful character in Dragon Ball Z, in the battle against Super Buu.

Kid Buu

Kid Buu is both the Alpha and the Omega of Majin Buu's forms. This is Buu's true form, he starts and ends here, and his penchant for destruction makes him a deadly foe. Kid Buu results from Goku and Vegeta ripping out and freeing all of the creatures Super Buu had absorbed, including Good Buu. The final showdown against Kid Buu takes place on the Sacred World of the Kai, after Kid Buu destroys Earth. No longer able to fuse, players will finish Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot with Goku and Vegeta. This is sure to be the most challenging fight players must overcome, culminating in a climactic, final Spirit Bomb to end evil.

Majin Buu, with his many shapes, sizes, colors, and personalities, was an unlikely yet unique final villain in Dragon Ball Z. The dichotomy between his silly appearance and purely evil tendencies lends to his confusing nature as a whole, but his many forms all play an important role in the story players will relive. The battles with Majin Buu will likely be the toughest in the whole game, but players don't have long to wait before tackling this challenge, as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be in their hands soon enough.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be out on January 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
