Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Confirms Major Boss Fight

The latest issue of Weekly Jump has revealed some more information on the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot action-RPG. Not only has it confirmed that Vegito and Adult Gohan will be playable characters, but it has also confirmed what will likely be one of the game's final boss fights.

As revealed by Weekly Jump, Kid Buu will be in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as a boss fight. Kid Buu is one of the final threats that the Dragon Ball Z characters face in the anime and manga, so it's quite possible that he is the final boss in the game. There are some other characters that may take the role of final boss instead, but that remains to be seen. In the meantime, the new Weekly Jump also revealed some other interesting information about Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will feature the Z Sword, obtained by Gohan in the Buu Saga, and it will also have a Community System feature. The Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Community System will let players collect items called Soul Emblems by completing quests. These emblems can then be placed on the Community Board, which will enhance players' stats. Further details on the Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot community system are unavailable at this time, but it seems pretty straightforward.

The Soul Emblems will be based on specific characters, so it sounds like players will get them from helping characters with their side quests. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot side quests will range from amusing filler, like the driving side quest, to ones that genuinely expand on the lore, like the one about the female Ginyu Force member. It's possible that Soul Emblems will be earned through main quests instead (or maybe through both), but we won't know for sure until Bandai Namco decides to reveal more details.

With the Kid Buu boss fight confirmed, it solidifies the fact that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will feature the entire Dragon Ball Z storyline. Players will be able to experience the Saiyan Saga all the way through the Buu Saga, with plenty of side quests to complete along the way. Whether or not it remains consistently entertaining throughout remains to be seen, but fans will find out if Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot lives up to the hype when it launches early next year.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot launches on January 17, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
