Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot promises to be one of the most in-depth dive into Goku's story to ever grace a game, chock full of both fan-favorite filler content like Goku and Piccolo trying to get their Drivers' licenses to original content like the ex-Ginyu Force member Bonyu. Now, Bandai Namco Entertainment has shined a little more light on how vehicles, like cars and the new rideable robots, will work in the game.
It looks like vehicles will be part of a basic Time Attack mini-game where Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot players have to race from checkpoint to checkpoint, and it doesn't seem there will be races with other cars, though that's hard to confirm at this time. Furthermore, these vehicles have stats like power and battery that can somehow be developed in the game, and should players choose, they can even drive these cars in first-person. The customization of vehicles is available to a degree, as scenes depicting customizer and development are shown, which is a cool but not altogether surprising feature.
What is surprising, though, is the addition of rideable robots to Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. These robots, which are showcased alongside the cars in the video below, work in a similar manner, as there will be Time Attack trials and perhaps even customization. Like the cars, there is a development screen shown, though there is not a customizer screen. One notable difference is we've yet to see a car be taken off road, but there are plenty of screenshots of Goku riding these around in the grasslands.
Hopefully, more will be showcased in the weeks to come, but if nothing else, the rideable robots show one way that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is different from every other DBZ game out there. It is a unique feature, which will allow players to have a little fun with free roam in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot as opposed to just simply flying from battle to battle. Cars and robots can be seen around the 10-minute mark below.
That said, there are plenty of fights for players to get involved in, with perhaps the most recent being shown is the show down between Majin Vegeta and Majin Buu. For many fans of the franchise, it's hard not to be hyped for this game with its incredible detail and unique additions.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is set to release on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 17, 2020.
