The wait for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's card battle mode is coming to an end. Tomorrow, a free Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot update will include the card-based game type, making it available to everyone. In preparation for its arrival, Bandai Namco has released the card mode's very first trailer through the official PlayStation YouTube channel. Said trailer breaks down how exactly the mode will work and what players can expect out of it.

Bandai Namco has discussed Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's card battle mode before, but those discussions have been few and far between and only ever in V-Jump scans, which can be tricky to interpret for those unfamiliar with Japanese. With that in mind, some viewers may recognize a few bits of information present in the trailer, but overall, the trailer acts as the first real showcase of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's card battle mode, which is officially called Dragon Ball Card Warriors.

The video is a little over three minutes long and is broken up into sections to help viewers better understand what's going on. The beginning of the video provides an introduction as to what Dragon Ball Card Warriors is. At the 0:20 mark, it breaks down the two decks players will build in the game and how both decks will work together. The video's 1:30 mark details how the gameplay and mechanics of the card system will work. Finally, the 2:38 mark discusses all of the different online modes and options players will be able to play the game with.

Fans have mixed feelings about the fact that Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will consider Dragon Ball Card Warriors to be its multiplayer feature. Many players were hoping that Kakarot's multiplayer would revolve around multiple players being able to take part in its core gameplay, which is understandable. It doesn't help that the game's second DLC involving Golden Frieza still hasn't come out, despite Beerus having released nearly half a year ago.

Still, if The Witcher's Gwent is proof of anything, it's that video game card games can be good when done correctly. Maybe Card Warriors will have a similar impact, as the mode looks like it's based on popular TCG games like Hearthstone and Yu-Gi-Oh!, so it has a solid foundation to work with. It comes out tomorrow, so players will be able to judge for themselves whether they like it or not.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
