As 4K technology becomes more commonplace, it’s become equally commonplace to wonder if every new AAA game coming out for 4K-compatible platforms will take advantage of that sweet ultra-high-definition. Not every game does, but Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will among the ones that do support 4K when it arrives early next year.
Anyone with the compatible monitors and gaming devices will be able to enjoy Bandai Namco’s upcoming anime action-RPG with the sharpest visual fidelity, as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s listings on Amazon, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store confirm that the game runs at 4K. That should make for quite the treat for fans eager to behold Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s recreation of iconic battles from the anime. If nothing else, the game will no doubt look good.
Visuals aren’t the only place where the game will to go all out in an attempt to fully embody the spirit of DBZ. From what has been shown of it in recent weeks, it’s clear that the game will be near to bursting with content. While largely about recreating Goku’s story as it was told in the anime, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will also feature other playable characters with plotlines of their own for players to experience as they train up their heroes, explore the game’s world, and tackle plenty of side-quests.
Seriously, there’ll be a lot of extra content coming to this game. More than just a straight adaptation of the anime, Bandai Namco is basically trying to create the most comprehensive DBZ experience one can get in a single game. Brand new characters will be introduced, as will new plot elements to further explore things the anime only briefly touched upon. Most importantly, though, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will cover what many consider to be the anime’s greatest episode.
Of course, being a Dragon Ball Z game, combat will still be the core focus, and it looks like it’ll be going the extra mile there as well. Fights will be flashy and fast-paced as fans have come to expect, but they’ll come in greater varieties, like the 3v1 combat shown in recent Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gameplay footage.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be out on January 17, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
