Players who love Dragon Ball and want to be a part of Goku’s adventures can finally do so in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. After all, their unique Create-a-Character avatar becomes an active component in the game’s retelling of the franchise’s story. Aside from customizing their avatar’s appearance, they can even customize their moves, giving them the opportunity to use some of the franchise’s most popular techniques on a whim.

Sometimes called Super Attacks, these techniques aren’t just popularly used by other characters in the Dragon Ball series. In fact, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 expands on these techniques with their own combat potential when used in the broader scope of a match. In turn, just which Super Attacks should players take note of?

10 Blaster Ball

Blaster Ball
  • Unlock via: Parallel Quest 125
  • Skill Type: Ki Blast
  • User/s: Kefla (Super Saiyan)
  • Ki Cost: 100-500

In most Dragon Ball games, Ki Blasts are often used as “distractions” to poke opponents before rushing them for a good old-fashioned combo. However, when used by the likes of Kefla in Xenoverse 2 gameplay, a technique like Blaster Ball becomes an efficient tool to lure opponents into opening their guard. At its core, this allows Kefla to throw two (2) Ki balls that can deal measly 6-percent damage. However, Kefla can actually throw more of these attacks to accumulate up to 21% damage over 13 hits.

While this seems rather exhausting to do compared to a “big” attack for the same damage, the efficiency of this technique ties into its technical components. Due to its low cost, Blaster Ball becomes a repetitive move that players can spam into dishing out damage quickly. More alarmingly for enemies, even small Ki Blasts can halt their advances, with Blaster Ball potentially debilitating their mobility.

9 Big Bang Kamehameha

Big Bang Kamehameha
  • Unlock via: TP Medal Shop
  • Skill Type: Ki Blast
  • User/s: Gogeta (SS4), SSGSS Gogeta (Metamoran Clothes 2)
  • Ki Cost: 100

When the world of Dragon Ball introduced the idea of Fusions, protagonists Goku and Vegeta were part of the “pairings” that fans wanted to have a fusion form. What came out of this are two variants, the Potara Earring-enhanced Vegito, and the Fusion Dance-enabled Gogeta. Such was the strength of Gogeta as a Saiyan that he proved capable of not just defeating Super Janemba in Hell, but also against Broly. And one of the attacks unique to them is Big Bang Kamehameha, quite literally a giant Kamehameha.

Technically speaking, this allows Gogeta to fire quite a large Kamehameha that can cover a wide area. Such is its power that its lowest charge can deal whopping 20% damage over nine (9) hits. And when charged properly, it can dish out as much as 30% damage over 15 hits. What’s unique about this move is that players can actually pull off a Big Bang Kamehameha at no charge cost, but with no damage dealt - feint players can use it to lure opponents into an unfavorable position.

8 Meteor Crash

Meteor Crash
  • Unlock via: Parallel Quest 12
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: CaC, Android 13, Android 16, Android 18, Appule, Bardock, Bojack, Broly, Captain Ginyu, Cell (Perfect), Cell Jr., Cooler (Final Form), Dodoria, Frieza (1st Form), Frost, God of Destruction Beerus, Gogeta (SS4), Gohan (Adult), Gohan (Kid), Goku, Goku (Ultra Instinct), Gotenks, Hit, Jiren, Krillin, Lord Slug, Majin Buu, Masked Saiyan, Nappa, Pan, Piccolo, Prince of Destruction Vegeta, Raditz, Saibaman, SSGSS Goku, SSGSS Vegito, Super Buu, Tien, Trunks (Kid), Turles, Vegeta, Vegeta (SS4), Videl, Yamcha, Zamasu, Zarbon
  • Ki Cost: 100

Players who got used to the gameplay of Xenoverse 2 would soon learn that relying heavily on big combo attacks not only depletes their resources quickly but also leaves them rather vulnerable in the process. To counter this, players may want to begin learning how to string their Supers along their combos, of which Meteor Crash can serve as a decent example.

At its core, this move will rush toward the opponent and dish out a series of punches and kicks. Players can hold the attack button to resume this move until it consumes around 300 Ki, although opponents always have the room to stop this move via a vanish. Despite the “vulnerable” nature of the move, Meteor Crash is an extremely useful skill to integrate with other ordinary combos, especially with Dragon Ball villain characters that have movesets ripe for combo mixing. However, where Meteor Crash shines is being one of the few attacks to be detrimental to the ordinarily-invincible Goku (Ultra Instinct), who will be forced to waste Stamina by dodging this move’s attacks.

7 Super Dragon Fist

Super Dragon Fist
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: Goku
  • Ki Cost: 100

When it comes to fighting games, pro players know that some of the best attacks come with multiple uses. In the case of gameplay in Xenoverse 2, fighting over huge areas means the attacks with accompanying mobility are always helpful, especially for melee-intensive Strike Fighters. Such an ideal Super Attack in this regard is Super Dragon Fist, capable of helping the likes of Goku rush opponents over a short distance, with the same afterimage of Shenron as whenever Goku does it as Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT

With Super Dragon Fist, Goku rushes towards an opponent and, if the attack connects, can rushdown opponents up to three (3) times. The speed this attack takes makes it perfect to bypass an enemy’s blocking. Not only that, opponents knocked back by the move are ripe for long-ranged blasts or a combo string.

6 Destructive Fracture

Destructive Fracture
  • Unlock via: Parallel Quest 145
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: Toppo (God of Destruction)
  • Ki Cost: 100

When Toppo of Universe 11 taps into his energies as a God of Destruction trainee, he’s able to wield the forces of Destruction itself - potentially making him one of the scariest Dragon Ball villains, should he ever become truly evil. In the gameplay of Xenoverse 2, this manifests in a fierce Super Attack called the Destructive Fracture. With this, Toppo punches an opponent hard and, if this connects, starts a series of combos.

Theoretically, Toppo landing the hit without encountering a block will have them grab opponents by the head, initiate a Hakai energy attack, and then kick them away - all in a span of 13 hits. The kick sends enemies far enough for players to resume almost any attack strategy, and they can cancel any part of the move to initiate another series of attacks.

5 Bending Kamehameha

Bending Kamehameha
  • Unlock via: TP Medal Shop
  • Skill Type: Ki Blast
  • User/s: Goku (Turtle Hermit Gi 2), Gohan (Adult), Krillin
  • Ki Cost: 100

Of all attacks in the Dragon Ball franchise, it’s the Kamehameha that is perhaps the most popular - thanks to Goku’s frequent use against Dragon Ball villains in both the series and the films. However, his training with the technique also had him create derivatives of the skill, leading to the Bending Kamehameha which becomes quite a deadly attack choice for long-distance fighters.

At first glance, the user seems to simply launch an ordinary-looking Kamehameha that deals 10-percent damage. However, with the right input, players are able to “twist” the Kamehameha into a homing attack, able to track the enemy if they try to run away. With the right timing, players can stop the beam and continue their attack almost immediately.

4 Soaring Fist

Soaring Fist
  • Unlock via: TP Medal Shop
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: Goku (Ultra Instinct)
  • Ki Cost: 100

When Goku finally taps into the power of Ultra Instinct, he becomes nigh-unstoppable due to his body’s “automatic” nature. In the gameplay of Xenoverse 2, this is reflected in his numerous signature attacks, such as the Soaring Fist. This rather artistic attack will have Goku punch the air and unleash a projectile capable of dealing 10-percent damage. After that, players can hold the button so Goku can release up to three (3) more projectiles capable of dealing 15-percent damage in total, with special knockback features.

Aside from the sheer visuals associated with this attack, Soaring Fist is quite an interesting way for players of melee fighters like Goku (Ultra Instinct) to get an edge against foes who want to keep their distance. Each of the Soaring Fist’s final set of attacks can travel much further to chase opponents, making these attacks deadly at any distance.

3 Time Skip/Back Breaker

Time Skip Back Breaker
  • Unlock via: Training with Hit
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: Hit (Suit 2)
  • Ki Cost: 100

Hailed as the deadliest fighter of Universe 6, Hit is much less a warrior but more of an assassin, capable of using his Time Skip ability to literally stop time to gain the advantage against his marks. In the gameplay of Xenoverse 2, this specialization manifests in the Time Skip/Back Breaker move that works perfectly as a counter-attack against opponents.

At its core, this move will have Hit perform a defensive stance that lasts for a split second, focusing on the rear. If they are attacked, they teleport and uppercut the opponent for whopping 20% damage. Considering the rear-guard nature of this move, Time Skip/Back Breaker is perfect for defending against pesky teleporters.

2 Kaioken Assault

Kaioken Assault
  • Skill Type: Strike
  • User/s: Goku
  • Ki Cost: 100

Sometimes, the best attacks in any fighting game are the ones with the most risk. And fans of Dragon Ball know that of all of Goku’s techniques, the Kaioken gives him tremendous power in exchange for literally putting his life on the line - making this the move that actually helped him defeat Vegeta. In the gameplay of Xenoverse 2, this manifests through the Kaioken Assault move, capable of giving players a visual spectacle with Goku’s oldest, signature move.

With this move, Goku triggers Kaioken and surrounds his body with a red glow, charging at his opponents for a brief rushdown. If they hit the attack button again, Goku unleashes a flurry of blows that hits the opponent multiple times. However, perhaps the catch here is how Goku continuously loses health during this combo, making this a risky move for careless players. Regardless, knowing how to pair this move with a nifty Ultimate can make Kaioken Assault the ultimate penultimate attack.

1 Consecutive Energy Blast

Consecutive Energy Blast
  • Unlock via: Skill Shop
  • Skill Type: Ki Blast
  • User/s: Android 17, Android 17 (DB Super), Appule, Bardock, Broly (Full Power Super Saiyan), Captain Ginyu, Cooler (Final Form), Fu, God of Destruction Champa, Goten, Guldo, Janemba, Kefla (Super Saiyan), Krillin, Majin Buu (Gohan Absorbed), Omega Shenron, Saibaman, Tapion, Vegeta, Videl, Yamcha, Zamasu, Zarbon
  • Ki Cost: 100

It’s one thing to be able to annoy opponents with a Ki Blast or two (2) before rushing for the offensive, and another thing entirely to just outright spam Ki Blasts to hinder their movement completely. Such is the nature of the Consecutive Energy Blast, and it’s too good of an annoying move for players to miss out on, especially if they’re heavy on long-ranged fighting or need an emergency ranged move as a melee fighter. It makes sense for this to become the go-to moves of the likes of Frieza.

With this move, characters simply unleash 10 Ki balls that deal 10% damage to foes. However, these balls are dangerous in how they can actually track opponents down, making these balls great to keep opponents away from players. Not only that, the small cost of this attack

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
