Dragon Ball FighterZ has been teased about its proclivity for adding more Gokus as playable fighters. It's a veritable Goku cloning simulator at this point. But there's no denying that Dragon Ball FighterZ players love their Gokus. That's why the latest announcement from Bandai Namco is certain to be well-received. The next DLC fighter for Dragon Ball FighterZ is now confirmed to be Ultra Instinct Goku, Goku's strongest form yet.

The news broke today due to the release of the latest issue of V-Jump, the Japanese manga magazine. The magazine confirms that Ultra Instinct Goku is in development and will be Dragon Ball FighterZ's next DLC character. No additional details are provided in the magazine, but fans can expect them during the Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour Finals. The professional esports competition will be held in Paris, France, between February 8 and 9. February 9, during the final matches of the tournament, is the likely reveal time.

Ultra Instinct Goku may be unfamiliar to some Dragon Ball Z fans. After all, Goku never even goes Super Saiyan Blue during the main Dragon Ball Z series. Ultra Instinct is a creation made up specifically for the Dragon Ball Super anime. It requires Goku to be backed into a corner and, rather than focusing on anger, instead reach a state of calm. Goku and others refer to Ultra Instinct as the "State of the Gods," though, funnily enough, it likely makes Goku much stronger than the gods.

The one limitation of the Ultra Instinct form, despite its power, is that it's not something that can be attained at will. Like is said in the anime and by Dragon Ball Super's creators, it's a brief and unreliable transformation. It's something only found in terrible situations. There's even a point in the anime when Goku is pushed out of Ultra Instinct by making him angry. Despite that, as Goku's most powerful formDragon Ball FighterZ players want to play as it. Bandai Namco is simply delivering on fan expectations.

For the time being, Ultra Instinct Goku is the only confirmed upcoming DLC character for Dragon Ball FighterZ. Dragon Ball FighterZ's Fighter Pass 2 wrapped up in late 2019, with Broly being released in-game in the first week of December. Fans have speculated about the possibility of the Fighter Pass 3 starting with Ultra Instinct Goku since then. However, there's no supporting evidence for a Fighter Pass 3 at this time. Ultra Instinct Goku might be it, at least until Dragon Ball FighterZ has a sequel developed.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
