Several days ago, the time-traveling Future Trunks was revealed as the next addition to the roster in Arc System Works and Bandai Namco Entertainment's forthcoming fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and now the developer and publisher have decided to give fans a better look at the character's model in the title. Today, the companies have put out a brand new image of the purple-haired powerhouse in his Super Saiyan form with a fresh screenshot.

As seen below in the tweet from the official Japanese account for Dragon Ball FighterZ, fans of the fighting game can take a gander at Future Trunks wielding his iconic sword after having delivered an explosive blow to Frieza, one of the franchise's most diabolical wrongdoers. So far, the Saiyan is the first character in the title to be shown using an actual weapon in battle, so it stands to reason that there could be even more fighters who utilize their own unique items that get added in the coming days and months.

With Arc System Works and Bandai Namco Entertainment showing off Future Trunks in a new screenshot, there's a good chance that the developer and publisher will eventually follow up this first look at the character with some actual video of the Super Saiyan in action. After all, the companies have already put out gameplay footage revolving around the likes of Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan taking on Cell, Majin Buu, and Frieza, and fans will definitely want to see how Trunks stacks up against the competition.

Since Dragon Ball FighterZ was only revealed in an official capacity several weeks ago, Trunks and all of the aforementioned characters from the anime franchise will not likely be the only fighters brought to the cast, especially with the game's release date being slated for 2018. However, it's anyone's guess as to who will be added next, with many hoping that Arc System Works and Bandai Namco Entertainment consider more obscure characters for the roster.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is scheduled to launch sometime in 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
