Premiering during Xbox's E3 2017 press conference, Dragon Ball FighterZ immediately gained the interest of fans through its past-paced, combo-heavy, tag-centric design. A fighting game with this layout is something that Dragon Ball fans had only ever dreamed of, and now developer Arc System Works is making it a reality. Now that it's officially happening, however, focus has immediately shifted over to the characters that will be filling the final roster.

So far Majin Buu, Frieza, Perfect Cell, Young Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta have all been confirmed for the game, which means that there is still plenty of room for additional fighters to make the cut. While mainstays like Krillin and Piccolo seem inevitable, we've opted to go for characters that reside on the fringe and therefore have less of a chance of securing a spot on the final roster in Dragon Ball FighterZ. Keeping that in mind, here are five obscure Dragon Ball brawlers that we want in DBFZ:

5 Cooler

The older brother of Frieza is a fan-favorite that hasn't played a massive role outside of a pair of animated movies. Still, there's little question that there's demand for the character, and he'd vary from his younger sibling through the different forms at his disposal. His final form (featured above) in particular is incredibly powerful, not to mention cool to look it, and it allowed him to easily pummel Goku before the Saiyan inevitably turned the tides of battle and catapulted Cooler into the sun – seemingly destroying him.

It's said that revenge is a dish best served cold though, and Cooler could deliver on that premise in spades.

4 Master Roshi

Despite being one of the most powerful humans on Earth, Master Roshi has often been overlooked in the Dragon Ball fighting games for some reason. Given the 2.5D nature of FighterZ though, it's feasible that Goku's old sensei could be featured in the hotly anticipated fight title. With turtle shell and wooden cane in tow, it's clear to see that Roshi would make for a unique fighter that did a lot more than just launch energy blasts.

Heck, he's even capable of bulking up substantially (often times losing his shirt when he does so), allowing him to change forms if there's ever a need in battle.

3 Yajirobe

Showing up to distribute the all-healing Senzu Beans from time to time, Yajirobe is usually the first to run away from a fight. While he shows hesitance in confronting hyper-powered threats, he's not one to shy away from doing the right thing and aiding his friends when they need him most. One instance in particular occurred when Yajirobe rescued Gohan and Krillin by utilizing his katana to slice off Vegeta's tail when he was in his Great Monkey form, which reverted the Saiyan prince back to his normal self.

Thanks to his sword and access to Senzu Beans, Yajirobe would make for a varied scrapper that's well worth featuring in Dragon Ball's newest fight title – preferably with a lot of humor sprinkled about his moveset.

2 Arale Norimaki

dragon ball fighterz roster arale

This is actually the only character on the list that has origins outside of the Dragon Ball franchise, although she has canonically been brought into the fold years ago. Arale was originally part of a manga called Dr. Slump, which was helmed by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. The series is often credited with helping to launch Toriyama's career, and Arale has been seen in various cameo roles throughout Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Super as a result.

For those not in the know, Arale is actually an android created by Sensei Norimaki in Penguin Village. The robotic protagonist is said to be flawlessly in her design, with one notable (and rather comedic) exception to this being that she is nearsighted and therefore needs to wear glasses. Despite her naivety and child-like design, she's an absolute powerhouse that has even bested Vegeta in combat. Suffice it to say, she's an oddball addition that would add some nice variety to FighterZ.

1 Dabura

As the righthand man of the evil wizard Babidi, Dabura handily dispatched a few of the Z-Fighters (Krillin and Piccolo) with his Stone Spit technique. This move in particular transforms anyone that makes contact with his hellish saliva to stone, making the King of the Demon Realm a memorable villain to say the least. It's not hard to see how this maneuver could transition into the final game, with it being an ideal setup for a combo or a means of teeing up a super attack.

Whatever fate awaits the villain, there's little doubt that Dabura would make for a worthy – and perhaps even likely in comparison to others on this list – addition to the final DBFZ roster.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018.
