Few fighting games have been as anticipated by the core following of the genre as Dragon Ball FighterZ. The game places iconic heroes from the Shonen Jump-owned manga and anime into a three-person tag team fighter that goes much deeper in its combat design than some of the series' other forays into fighting game category. Now, hot on the heels of a confirmation that Captain Ginyu and Nappa will be joining the fray, Bandai Namco has now confirmed an official release date for the title.

Fans can mark January 26, 2018 on their calendars as the day that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be arriving across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms. Bandai Namco also confirmed that there will be a secondary version of the game for fans to sink their hard-earned dollars into. Dubbed the Ultimate Edition, the special rendition of the title comes with "the FighterZ Pass, an anime music pack containing 11 songs from the DRAGON BALL anime, and a commentator voice pack."

Of course, those that preorder either version of Dragon Ball FighterZ will also receive SSB Goku and SSB Vegeta as early unlocks, so that is a little extra incentive thrown in there for fans to commit to either version ahead of the game's January 2018 arrival. Additionally, those keen on preordering the title digitally will score "two exclusive lobby avatars and a Girls Stamp Pack, featuring Android 21, Android 18, and Bulma at launch."

Most interestingly though, the FighterZ pass will add an additional eight characters to the game post-launch. Given that many still aren't sure what the final roster will be comprised of, it's difficult to comment on which characters will make the cut. With a number of perfectly suited and unlikely candidates ripe for inclusion in Dragon Ball FighterZ, there's sure to be no shortage of combatants to choose from for the season pass.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 26, 2018.
