As many fans excitedly await further details on Dragon Ball FighterZ, Nintendo Switch owners have been left hoping that they won’t be left out in the cold when the title finally gets around to making its debut next year. So far the only confirmed platforms for the new Dragon Ball fighting game are PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but it sounds as if Namco Bandai is open to the possibility of bringing the title to Nintendo’s newest platform.

During a recent interview between the French gaming site Gameblog and Dragon Ball FighterZ producer Tomoko Hiroki, the developer claimed that the lack of power compared to other platforms on the market wasn’t holding the game back from releasing on Switch. Hiroki referenced how Namco Bandai plans to bring over Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 to the Nintendo-made console later this year, claiming that there haven’t been any troubles porting that iteration so far.

Despite this, Hiroki indicated that Namco Bandai would be open to releasing Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch if there was enough demand from consumers for it. Even then, the producer indicated that fans shouldn’t expect a simultaneous launch of the game – even if the port gets green-lit at some point down the road – alongside PS4 and Xbox One versions. Despite not being ideal news, at least the publisher isn’t completely ruling out bringing the 3v3 fighter to the Nintendo console.

As a result of this news, fans have begun several online petitions to gain support for the title on Switch. One petition has already amassed over 1,200 signatures, and has quickly been growing in the days following the fighter’s reveal during Xbox’s E3 2017 press conference. Namco Bandai will definitely be hoping for more interest than that before it commits a budget to bringing the game over, but it’s a start for any Nintendo Switch owner interested in playing some Dragon Ball FighterZ at home or on the go.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently set to arrive for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018.
