The latest edition of Japanese magazine V-Jump reveals that three new characters are coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ, adding to an already impressive roster of characters. Kid Buu, Adult Gohan, and Super Saiyan 3 Gotenks will be present in the base game, bringing the total number of playable characters up to 21, with an additional 8 fighters coming to the title post-launch.

The two-page spread from V-Jump shows off the three new characters in action, revealing a small amount of information about each fighter. From past experience, it's safe to say that each character will inevitably get their own trailers as we head closer towards Dragon Ball Fighter Z's launch window.

Kid Buu, the original and terrifyingly-evil form of Majin Buu will not be holding back in combat, using his special attack "Planet Burst," which is capable of very literally blowing up the Earth itself.

As for Gotenks, the fusion of Goten and Trunks, the powerful combined Saiyan will trap opponents in a ball in order to hit them with his "Charging Ultra Buu Buu Volleyball" attack. Although this comedic but devastating special move is usually performed with the assistance of Namekian fighter Piccolo, the animated scene will change depending on which partner Gotenks is teaming up with at the time.

Adult Gohan is the second version of the popular character to enter the ring, and this time he has no need for his Super Saiyan form. Having surpassed his limits, Gohan can use "Unlock Potential" to consume his Ki Gauge and power up a set amount, depending on how much Ki was sacrificed. Learning from his father, the fighter can pull out a refined "Ultimate Kamehameha" as a special attack, which is sure to deal substantial damage to any enemy in Gohan's path.

The magazine also revealed that a shop function will be present in Dragon Ball FighterZ, where players can go to purchase character color variants as well as in-game titles by spending Zeni won through battle. As with all good fighting games, the title will also be host to an Arcade Mode where fighters will clash in a predetermined number of battles. The route taken will change depending on whether a player wins or loses, so there's bound to be some sort of reward to 100% completing the game mode.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on January 26, 2018.
