Dragon Ball FighterZ is an homage to the series of Dragon Ball that takes into account the slightest details to get fans excited about the game. FighterZ features dramatic finishes that take snippets from the anime and turn them into epic video game moments that look graphically stunning and are satisfying to achieve. In the same vein as the dramatic finishes, there're little nods to Dragon Ball hidden throughout the game as well. Some of these details appear during battles, others during the character select screen, and some only show up in training mode! All in all, fans are still looking out for some Easter eggs since they can be really difficult to find.

Videl Pigtails

Pigtail Videl and Saiyaman in DBFZ
Videl's classic look from her and Gohan's high schooldays makes a return in her alternate costume in Dragon Ball FighterZ. She's the only character in the game with an alternate costume that changes her appearance and fans definitely take advantage of that fact.
She doesn't make much of an appearance as a fighter in Dragon Ball Z, but when she does, she sports shorter hair and athletic wear, which is her default costume in the game. By holding down L1 or LB, players can change her costume to the pigtails version of Videl which got more screen time in the anime.

Manga Colors

DBFZ Vegeta Color 59
In a recent patch, Goku and Vegeta were given a special color variation that changes their shading and color palette from their original colors. This variation darkens a lot of the shadows on their clothing and faces, while also changing their colors to lighter versions of themselves. These colors are called the manga colors since they use similar shading techniques to manga as opposed to the rest of the cast which looks more like the anime. To find these colors, players have to scroll to the last colors of the characters to number 59. They're number 59 because it's a pun on Goku's name in Japanese which sounds like 5-9. 5/9 also happens to be "Goku Day" for the same reason.

Super Baby 2 Damage

Super Baby 2 was an unexpected addition to Dragon Ball FighterZ due to the lack of GT representation, but he made it regardless and is one of the most interesting characters to play. During his special level 3 super, he transforms into a golden ape and unleashes a powerful ground pound attack that crumbles the Earth beneath him.
This level 3 has two Easter eggs attached to it that are not easy to find if players don't use training mode often. The unscaled damage of his super is 1997 damage and when it's powered up, it does 2021. These number values are references to the year Dragon Ball GT ended, and the year Super Baby 2 released for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

DBZ Volleyball Team

To find this Easter egg, players have to have a specific team set up of Tien, Piccolo, and Gotenks. When this team is selected and players do Gotenks' level 3, instead of him passing the ball to himself, his teammates appear to help him finish the attack. This is a reference to when Gotenks and Piccolo slammed Super Buu into the ground using his volleyball attack. Tien makes it in because of his signature volleyball fist move, so it just makes sense that he'd join in on the fun as well.

Power Couple

Krillin and Android 18
Android 18 and Krillin are probably the best couple in all of Dragon Ball since they have their priorities straight to protect their family and want to live their lives as normal people. This doesn't mean they won't put on the gi and scrap when they have to though.
In Android 18's level 3 super, normally her brother 17 shows up to complete the combination attack. If players have Krillin on their team as well, he'll appear and do a finishing Kamehameha with her after the combo attack. It's a cute Easter egg for fans who want to keep the couple together and run a team with significance to the show.

Beerus Level 3

On paper, Beerus is the strongest character in Dragon Ball FighterZ, and he has the level 3 super to back it up. It has some of the highest base damage of the supers in the game, falling after ones like Tien's and Goku's Spirit Bomb.
If players use Beerus' level 3 against Zamasu or Goku Black, it'll erase them from existence, like he did in the anime. The level 3 also does extra damage against these two if it kills. The total damage comes out to 50,000 which is way more than enough to deplete a character's health since max health is only 10,000.

Teen Gohan Vs. Cell

While there are well-known dramatic finishes in Dragon Ball FighterZ, there're also lesser-known dramatic intros. One of the dramatic introductions is for Teen Gohan Vs. Cell in the Cell Arena stage. Gohan watches helplessly as Cell kills his new friend Android 16 and the rage propels him to activate Super Saiyan 2.
The chilling moment is made crisp by the cel-shaded graphics of FighterZ, and the scream of fury from Gohan is better than ever. Moments like these add a sense of urgency and importance to the fights between players, and it's a shame there aren't more in the game.

Goku Vs. Frieza

Goku and Frieza dramatic intro
The other dramatic into of FighterZ involves Goku and Frieza on Planet Namek. The player specifically has to pick Super Saiyan Goku because it's the moment Goku first loses his patience with Frieza. Frieza starts off the battle by exploding Krillin in front of Goku as he shouts for help triggering Goku's rage. RELATED: Dragon Ball Z: 10 Longest Fights In The Anime, Ranked
When Goku goes into Super Saiyan, the fight is on and it shows from his face. Having a dramatic intro between the series' most iconic hero and villain was a great choice because it incentivizes players to pick a variety of characters and make unique teams to see these Easter eggs play out in matches.

Color 02

Each character's second color in Dragon Ball FighterZ is a reference to something else from the anime or manga in the Dragon Ball universe. For example, Tien's color 02 is his outfit from his appearances in Dragon Ball, and Android 17's is his original ranger outfit from Dragon Ball Super.
The funniest references are for Ginyu whose colors are a bright blue like the frog he body swaps into in Dragon Ball 5. Beerus' color 02 is a reference to his godly companion Whis, who has yet to make it into FighterZ since he hasn't even had a real fight in Dragon Ball Super.

Family Kamehameha

One of the most iconic super attacks from past Dragon Ball games is the family Kamehameha. Goku isn't known for spending much time with his sons Gohan and Goten, but when he does, battle is usually close by. If players have Gohan and Goku on a team together, Goku will show up during Gohan's level 3 and strengthen the blast. This is a reference to when the family teamed up against Broly, but it's been done in Budokai and Tenkaichi games more memorably.
