Dragon Ball FighterZ players are getting a treat with a fan-favorite from the anime confirmed to be coming to Season 3 of the fighting game. Bandai Namco is officially announcing Master Roshi as the newest DLC fighter.

Fan speculations about Master Roshi in Dragon Ball FighterZ have been abounding since earlier this year, when a leaked screencap displayed a victory quote referencing a perverted old man. Master Roshi is a hermit, martial arts master, and frequent nose-bleeder who also happens to be Gohan's mentor and the confirmed DLC 3 for Pass 3 of DragonBall FighterZ.

The pandemic has put Dragon Ball FighterZ in a tricky situation by canceling its biggest world tour event, and updates for the game have been slowed down since. However, Bandai Namco is still focused on making the game engaging and fun for players and put on a live showcase on Twitch where they revealed the game's plans for the future and an "exclusive trailer" that ended up revealing Master Roshi as the game's newest addition after Kefla and Ultra Instinct Goku.

Although Master Roshi won't join Dragon Ball Fighter Z until September, fans can look forward to a "full breakdown stream" from Bandai Namco about the fighter next month. And for now, players can watch the official video and watch Roshi's Evil Containment Wave attack in action accompanied by his over-the-top wackiness. Master Roshi will bring the total character count in Dragon Ball FighterZ to 41, and will be followed by two as-of-yet unknown characters coming to FighterZ Pass 3.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has been on the receiving end of a lot of well-deserved praise and hype, and some fans consider it the best Dragon Ball Z fighting game. It has a deep and rewarding battle system that fans love, and has proven its popularity by recently hitting 5 million units sold. This is due in part to Bandai Namco's consistent effort to grow the game, and a large part of that is adding in unique characters that fans loved from the anime and get to enjoy playing with unique fighting styles.

Since COVID-19 has hit Dragon Ball FighterZ so hard, Season 3 may last through the end of 2020 and it may be a while before players get to see the next two characters. But for now, fans can anticipate and eventually try fighting with the iconic hermit, and learn how to master playing this Dragon Ball FighterZ character. Even if his quirky style and perverted nature weren't everyone's cup of tea when he appeared in the anime, Master Roshi is a unique and fun character and a lot of players will want to give it a shot battling with him.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
