Following a successful reveal at E3 2017, fighting game fans have quickly embraced the gameplay and visual aesthetic present in Bandai Namco’s Dragon Ball FighterZ. As gamers look forward to the 3v3 fight title arriving next year, many have already begun speculating on which characters from the Dragon Ball franchise will end up making the final roster, but the newest confirmed combatant should not strike any fan as an out-there choice.
Joining the likes of Majin Buu, Frieza, Perfect Cell, Goku, Young Gohan, and Vegeta will be none other than the latter’s son, Trunks. The latest installment of Japan’s Jump magazine (via Siliconera) confirmed that the purple-haired Saiyan will be joining the fray, although specific details pertaining to Trunks’ moveset in Dragon Ball FighterZ weren’t revealed in the issue.
The inclusion of the time-travelling hero won’t strike many as unexpected, but it’s good to see him confirmed all the same. Hopefully a gameplay trailer featuring Trunks in action won’t be all that far behind, although it wouldn’t hurt to see developer Arc System Works add a few more members to the roster before showcasing more of the anticipated title – some of which would preferably be from Game Rant’s list of five obscure Dragon Ball characters that should appear in FighterZ.
As fans of Trunks rejoice, many others are petitioning to see this particular Dragon Ball fight title brought to the Nintendo’s latest console. Publisher Bandai Namco claims that it may bring Dragon Ball FighterZ to Switch if there’s enough fan demand, but stated that gamers shouldn’t expect to see the game arrive for the platform until after it has hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Still, that has apparently not stopped Nintendo fans for pushing for the game to arrive on their newfound system of choice.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is set to arrive for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2018.
