Dragon Ball Demon Breaker is a fan-made project in the works by the Saiya-Slash team in conjunction with ATLAS Studios Colombia, and it is meant to be seen as a pitch to Bandai moreso than anything else. After all, the desire is seemingly there, as many DBZ fans were disappointed after the new Bandai Play Anime Live event didn't feature Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Dragon Ball FighterZ, or anything of that nature. Still, fans of the project should keep their expectations in check, as this is an indie project and not an official AAA game.

Nonetheless, Dragon Ball Demon Breaker is influenced by Devil May Cry, and it shows. Shortly after the official reveal, a more streamlined trailer with no camera rotation surfaced, allowing fans to see it and what it has to offer in these early stages of development.

Dragon Ball Demon Breaker focuses on Trunks, and based on its style, it seems doubtful that more characters would ever be playable in it. As seen below, the gameplay is really action-oriented and focuses on Trunks dismantling opponents one at a time (so far). Everything from his sword maneuvers to his Ki Blasts are shown off, including his Super Saiyan form. At one point, it appears Trunks assumes this form mid-attack as a short burst of power, likely as a combo. Trunks is shown going full Super Saiyan, however, at the end, and even in this early stage, it seems like a good representation of the fan-favorite character.

Even as a fan project, this would be the first time in recent memory that a Dragon Ball Z game would be focused on a singular character, and especially Trunks. He's a fan-favorite, with many feeling like Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot stiffs Trunks during his appearance in the Cell Saga, but he returns at the end of the game as a playable character for fans to run around with.

Although this fan project may certainly draw some eyes, fans should continue to keep expectations in check and remain patient. The developer is going on break until August 10, and social media updates may slow. Dragon Ball Demon Breaker has promised there will be more to show in Holiday 2020, so for now, fans of the project will just have to wait and what else is in store.
