BioWare first announced the next Dragon Age game at The Game Awards 2018 with a brief teaser that revealed little beyond that the game was in development. Dragon Age showed up at The Game Awards again a couple of years later with a cinematic trailer that revealed more details, including the fact that Solas, the Dread Wolf would be playing a key role in the story. Now the next Dragon Age has an official title, and as it turns out, it's an anagram for something that potentially has big implications for the franchise.

BioWare recently confirmed that the next Dragon Age game is titled Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, further underlining Solas' importance to the game's narrative as the game's primary antagonist. It also confirmed that fans won't get to play Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022, with the game instead pegged for a release in 2023 or beyond. However, BioWare did promise that more information on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would come at some point later this year.

When it comes to Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, all fans have to go by are the previously released trailers and the game's new title. However, there may be more clues about what the game will entail hidden in plain sight. The next Dragon Age being titled Dreadwolf may have more significance than fans may have realized at first because it appears as though the title is actually an anagram.

As pointed out by Twitter user banalnadas, Dreadwolf is an anagram for "Fade World." And while former Dragon Age: Dreadwolf producer Mike Darrah no longer works at BioWare, he did respond to banalnadas' tweet with the "eyes" emoji, suggesting that there could very well be something to this discovery. In Dragon Age, The Fade is essentially the spirit world, separated from the material world by the Veil. Magic users draw from the Fade to power their abilities.

Solas makes it clear that one of his goals coming out of the Dragon Age: Inquisition Trespasser expansion is to tear down the Veil. The "Fade World" anagram suggests that Solas is going to be successful, which could completely change the world of Dragon Age forever.

Of course, there's a reason why Dragon Age fans were looking for anagrams with the Dreadwolf title. The Solas companion quest in Dragon Age: Inquisition is called All New, Faded for Her, which is actually an anagram for Dread Wolf Fen'harel, which hints as Solas' identity as the Dread Wolf.

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is in development.
