The fourth game in the Dragon Age franchise has been announced to be taking players to the distant lands of Tevinter Imperium, a place that has not yet been seen inside any of the other games. Past titles have been known to have the odd cameo of a character from even older titles, for example, Alistair's possible appearance in Dragon Age: Inquisition or the visit from Zevran in Dragon Age 2.
Due to this, many fans of the title have their hopes up that their favorite characters will surprise them by appearing in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. These are the characters players most want to see return in the upcoming game.
10 Cole
Although peculiar, this compassionate spirit masqueraded as a young man to join the Inquisition. Many members of the Inquisitor's party were untrusting of him as they accused him of being a demon; however, through the story of Inquisition, players had the chance to make Cole more human.
By the end of the Trespasser DLC, Cole has found himself in love with the bard that sings all the songs during the game and has decided he would go adventuring with her. This could mean that Cole may appear in Tevinter with this bard, as no one knows where they hope to travel.
9 Josephine Montilyet
As the ambassador and chief diplomat of the Inquisition, it would be more surprising if Josephine didn't make an appearance, especially as it can be assumed by players that the Inquisition will want to make some ties with Tevinter in the hope of stopping Solas from destroying the world.
With this bubbly woman from Antiva visiting Tevinter, players may be helping her create these connections, or perhaps they will simply spot her talking to someone of high standards in the hope of assisting the Inquisition.
8 Sandal
With the theories that circulate about this surface Dwarf called Sandal, it was a surprise not to see him in Dragon Age: Inquisition, when he has been a staple character in the franchise. Players do know that he is still around as, although he wasn't seen in the recent game, players can find his journal in the Shattered Library during the Trespasser DLC though how it got there isn't explained.
With so much mystery surrounding Sandal, Players hope to see a matured version of him in DA:D where players can finally learn more about what this Dwarf has been doing since he became Hawke's Rune crafter.
7 Leliana
Starting as a companion in Dragon Age: Origins, Leliana has revealed herself in every single Dragon Age title since then, be it a cameo or main role such as the spymaster for the Inquisition. Fans expect to see her again in Tevinter controlling her spies while in dangerous territory.
However, there may be an issue with her arrival, and this concerns who became Divine in the Trespasser DLC. If the player had decided to support Leliana in becoming the Divine, then she may be too busy to help the Inquisition, though she may not be happy about this.
6 Hero Of Ferelden
Although the Hero of Ferelden has been mentioned throughout the franchise, they haven't been seen since they helped put an end to the most recent Blight that saw the entirety of Ferelden come under threat.
As players have now seen Hawke once again, and the dangers of Corypheus have been dealt with. Many players hope that in the next game of the franchise, they will finally get to remake their hero with improved graphics as well as being a nod to the humble beginnings of the title.
5 Iron Bull
Iron Bull is one of the most notoriously loved characters in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Fans adored his well-thought-out story that focused on family as the Iron Bull was forced to pick between his heritage and his team of Mercenaries. Those that chose for him to stay with the charges are looking forward to finding out what new adventures they have been on.
Unfortunately, the original voice actor of the Iron Bull has stated that he hasn't been asked back for lines. In addition to this, there is a chance that players may have had to kill him during the final DLC; however, players can still hope that this ginormous unit of a Qunari will return in some form or another.
4 Fenris
With a mistrust for mages, few players may question why Fenris would go to Tevinter in the first place. However, since the events of Dragon Age 2, where Fenris finally got his freedom from his Tevinter master, Fenris went on his own quest for vengeance against similar magisters.
If Fenris returns in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, he could be liberating other elves that had been kept as slaves by the people of Tevinter like he once was. This would also make for an excellent side quest.
3 Sten
Since Dragon Age: Origins, not much has been heard about the Stoic Qunari Sten with his hidden softer side unless fans of the franchise have read the comic series Dragon Age: Those Who Speak. During this comic, it is told that Sten became the Arishock after the previous one was killed in Kirkwall.
Because of this, many players hope that by visiting Tevinter, they will eventually meet Sten once more. They hope to see him in his new-found glory as the Arishock or at least second in command if the player did not kill the previous one in Dragon Age 2.
2 The Inquisitor
By being the leader of the Inquisition and having a personal bone to pick with Solas, players wouldn't expect their Inquisitor to pass on the chance to meet Solas face to face once again. Be it for better or for worse, many players hope that the character they controlled in Dragon Age: Inquisition will have a key role to play alongside their new character.
Those that romanced Fen'Harel are particularly eager to see their Inquisitor again in the hope for them to finally find closure with the Dreadwolf or persuade him to give up on his quest to tear down the Fade.
1 Dorian Pavus
Unsurprising to many, players hope to see the bold and brilliant Dorian Pavus once again in Tevinter. Since the death of Corypheus, Dorian has taken his father's place as a Magister in the Magisterium while also being an ambassador of Tevinter for the Inquisition.
With all these connections between his homeland and the Inquisition, players hope to aid Dorian in his attempt to open the eyes of his countrymen to the rest of the world. While also assisting in the quest to stop Solas once and for all.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. It does not have a release date yet.
