Dragon Age Adds 'Golems of Amgarrak' on August 10

Dragon Age Golems of Amgarrak

Dragon Age 2 is still a little ways off (March 2011) unfortunately but fear not, fellow Grey Warden, you can still get your adventuring in with your copy of Dragon Age: Origins or Awakenings. BioWare has been pretty good at releasing follow-up stories and adventures in the land of Ferelden and, in this case, it's underground.

The upcoming DLC, entitled "Golems of Amgarrak" will put your Warden deep underground to search for a missing dwarven expedition group. Oh, those crazy dwarves, they certainly love their stone and rock, don't they? BioWare's official descriptor follows:

Delve deep underground to save a missing dwarven expedition in search of ancient secrets for creating monstrous constructs. Only you can uncover the gruesome fate that befell them.

Put your Warden back in action and adventure through new environments, meet new characters and defeat never before seen creatures. With an engrossing new storyline and challenging puzzles this is one add-on you don't want to miss!

* Import your character from Origins or Awakening or create a new, high-level hero!

* Face an all-new terrifying creature

* Earn powerful rewards that transfer into your Awakening and Origins campaign

* An advanced challenge for even the most experienced adventurers

The prospect of defeating more creatures with your Grey Warden might be enough for you to purchase this rather inexpensive add-on for your Dragon Age experience, it's only $5. I based my own Warden's backstory on wanting to wipe out as many foul monsters from the face of the earth as he could, so why wouldn't he want to sign up for the Grey Wardens? And it is nice to have rewards transfer over to your Origins or Awakenings, no word yet on what the rewards might be, but a new weapon or nice set of armor might be in order here.

The continual expansion of the world and what lies within and below is what I really enjoy about the Dragon Age games. As a table-top gamer, I'm always curious to see what my dungeon master has in store for the group every time we sit down and BioWare is summoning the same kind of feeling with every expansion of Dragon Age. 'Leiliana's Song' took you on a much more personal journey for one of your NPCs, while 'Darkspawn Chronicles' (check the review) put you in the boots of the very thing you were trained to destroy.

Storytelling like this is incredible, to say the least. With the sequel set up where you play a single character through a long period of his life, it's certain to be a most interesting experience.

The Dragon Age expansion, 'Golems of Amgarrak' will leave you dying cold and underground looking for dwarves on August 10, 2010 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
