When it comes to Dragon Age 4, BioWare has shared precious little about what fans can expect from the upcoming RPG. Dragon Age 4 teasers shown so far have confirmed some returning companions and little else, though now fans know for sure where the game is set. As confirmed by the recently released BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development book, Dragon Age 4 is set in Tevinter.

While fans have long assumed that Dragon Age 4's setting would be Tevinter, this appears to be the first official confirmation. It was spotted by Eurogamer's Tom Phillips, who revealed that the book doesn't just confirm Tevinter for Dragon Age 4. Some Dragon Age 4 art in the book seems to suggest that the game will also feature some areas outside of Tevinter as well, like Antiva City and Nevarra.

Other possible Dragon Age 4 locations revealed by the book include expansive dwarven tunnel system known as The Deep Roads. The Deep Roads have been heavily featured in previous Dragon Age games, so their return in Dragon Age 4 should really come as no surprise. And finally, there is art of the Lords of Fortune, who are form Rivain, suggesting that area may be featured in the new game as well, though it must be stressed that only Tevinter is confirmed at the time of this writing.

Besides the setting, Dragon Age 4 has confirmed a few returning characters through its teaser trailers and concept art. This includes Varric, Isabella, Dorian, and Solas the Dread Wolf. Their exact roles in Dragon Age 4 and how heavily they will be featured remains to be seen, but more information will come to light as we get closer to the game's release date, whenever that may be. As it stands, so little has been shown of Dragon Age 4 that fans may still have years to wait before they actually get to play the game.

Many fans may not be surprised at all to learn of Dragon Age 4's location, as it was heavily teased by the Dragon Age: Inquisition DLC Trespasser. Those that have yet to complete that DLC should be weary of SPOILERS, but essentially, that DLC ends with the Inquisitor stabbing a dagger into a map labeled Tevinter Imperium, so longtime fans of the franchise have assumed for years that the next game would be set in Tevinter.

Even though Dragon Age 4's Tevinter setting may not be a surprise to fans, it's still nice to have official confirmation. Whether or not the other areas teased by the BioWare: Stories and Secrets from 25 Years of Game Development book come to light is unclear, but fans should find out in the months and years ahead.
