One of the big reveals at The Game Awards 2018 was Dragon Age 4 from BioWare. It's been three years since the game's initial reveal, yet it still has no official release date in sight. There isn't even an official release window, as BioWare and EA have remained mostly quiet about the game since its announcement. But now a reputable industry insider may have narrowed down the Dragon Age 4 release date.
According to GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb, citing sources familiar with the project, Dragon Age 4 is aiming for a 2023 release date. Fans should take this news with a grain of salt since it isn't official information, but Grubb's info is usually accurate. Grubb added that since the Dragon Age 4 release date is sometime in 2023, fans should expect marketing for the game to ramp up at some point in 2022.
If EA isn't planning on really marketing Dragon Age 4 until 2022 to promote its 2023 release date, then it makes sense why it decided to leave the game off its EA Play Live event. In an effort to keep expectations in check, EA confirmed prior to EA Play Live that Dragon Age 4 wouldn't be at the show, and it's worth noting that BioWare's new Mass Effect game was missing in action as well. It seems fans will have to wait until next year before getting another solid look at either title.
That doesn't mean there won't be any kind of Dragon Age 4 news in the meantime. It's entirely possible that EA will start marketing the game earlier than expected, or at least release another Dragon Age 4 teaser trailer to tide fans over. Then again, it's also possible that fans will have to make due with Dragon Age 4 concept art, which BioWare has been trickling out this past year.
Earlier this year, BioWare released a piece of Dragon Age 4 concept art focused on Tevinter, the setting of the new game. The developers also released some new Grey Warden concept art, as well as a piece of art that teased the Antivan Crows organization. The Antivan Crows in Dragon Age are a group of thieves and assassins, and it seems that they are returning to the franchise with Dragon Age 4's release.
In the meantime, the Dragon Age 4 release window, if accurate, could give fans an idea of when to expect the new Mass Effect game. It means that the Mass Effect 4 release date is likely somewhere in 2025 at the very earliest, and so fans of BioWare's sci-fi franchise likely have a very long wait ahead of themselves.
