Dragon Age 4, which is reportedly so early in development that it does not even have a proper title yet, could very well be taking a page from its predecessor, Dragon Age: Inqusition. According to a recent job listing, Dragon Age developer BioWare is hiring a Franchise Technical Director who has experience in developing multiplayer games, meaning that the forthcoming installment could have some type of multiplayer functionality.

As to what that would exactly look like, it remains uncertain. It's also possible that the team is just looking for a well-rounded individual to serve as a Technical Director, but that doesn't seem likely, especially with the expressed mention of multiplayer development. Moreover, since Dragon Age: Inquisition included a multiplayer feature, it wouldn't actually be that surprising if Dragon Age 4 did as well.

Notably, and perhaps naturally, multiplayer functionality in a predominantly single-player franchise is often worrisome, but it's worth mentioning that Inquisition did so with little-to-no bad feedback. It did not affect single player progress and was merely an option for those who wanted to dip their toes into wartorn Thedas. But whether Dragon Age 4's multiplayer component would operate similarly or be received similarly is still in the air.

Concerning the position, BioWare describes the role as "the most senior engineering lead on the game team and a key member of the Dragon Age franchise leadership. Ultimately responsible for ensuring that we delight our players, they build and mentor the engineering team, build and execute the game technology plan, and define and direct the development process." If the shoe fits, then check out the official job listing here.

Beyond the multiplayer experience, BioWare is also asking that their technical director have an understanding of game development through post-production, have working knowledge in two or more domains, an understanding of multiple processor use, have Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Computer science, and be proficient with C++ (Visual Studio), though C#, Java, and Python will also be relevant. Combine this technical director's qualifications with the current dream team working on Dragon Age, and hopefully, this next installment will live up to the hype.

Dragon Age 4 is currently in development for unspecified platforms.
