BioWare’s Dragon Age had been silent for a few years ever since the release of Dragon Age Inquisition back in 2014. Now, BioWare has teased that Dragon Age 4 is on the way during The Game Awards 2018, and Executive Producer Mark Darrah says that he has assembled a new team to work on the project.

Darrah explained in BioWare’s official blog that Dragon Age and BioWare veterans will be at the forefront of the core team that will be working on the upcoming game. “While we won’t be sharing any details, for now, I can tell you we have been building a new team around a core of Dragon Age veterans, people I’ve worked with on Dragon Age, Jade Empire, and some of whom I’ve worked with since the Baldur’s Gate days,” Darrah explained.

While the post did not specify names, it is interesting to learn about which developers will be included in the new Dragon Age team, especially after David Gaider and Mike Laidlaw exited BioWare after years of service. Gaider joined BioWare back in 1999 and left the studio in 2016. Laidlaw, on the other hand, was BioWare’s long-time creative director who left the studio last year and recently joined forces with Ubisoft a few days ago.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the development for Dragon Age 4 has been delayed internally, due to a restructuring in BioWare. Ever since this news broke out, people began to wonder whether BioWare still planned to continue the Dragon Age franchise. Fortunately, fans can now rest easy knowing that Inquisition will not be the final entry in the franchise.

As of the moment, BioWare is still tight-lipped with regards to details on the development of the upcoming Dragon Age title. The teaser that was revealed at The Game Awards earlier did not specify any release window, which makes the rumor saying that Dragon Age 4 is still three years away much more likely. Although Darrah confirmed that Dragon Age is in active development, BioWare is still pretty much preoccupied with Anthem as of the moment, which releases in February 2019.

Dragon Age 4 is currently in development.
