Dr Lupo is one of the biggest streamers on Twitch and he has held a good number of charity streams on his channel, with a number of them going to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. With that being said, Dr Lupo is changing the game for Twitch streamers by making sure that his tips go to those who need them the most.

Dr Lupo has done many charity streams in the past, especially for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. In December of 2019, Dr Lupo raised over $2.3 million for St. Jude within 24 hours, thanks to Twitch donating $1 million to match what Dr Lupo had already raised with his viewers. Now that Dr Lupo is doing another charity stream named #BuildAgainstCancer benefiting St. Jude, he is making sure that he and his community can do as much as they can for the charity.

All tips that Dr Lupo will receive from now on will go directly to St. Jude. When viewers visit Dr Lupo’s channel, they will see the usual tip panel that has been there in the past but when it is clicked, it takes viewers to a Tiltify link. This Tiltify link will send all of the tips that Dr Lupo would have received and send them to St. Jude instead. Dr Lupo has stated that this will be a permanent change to the channel that makes sure that his community can do as much good as they can for St. Jude.

As streamers become bigger, they are sometimes offered million dollar contracts to make sure that they remain on a single platform for streaming. Dr Lupo has received one of these contracts and is exclusively streaming on Twitch, so getting a bunch of small tips from viewers is likely not necessary for him to provide for himself and his family.

All of this was said in the same announcement from Dr Lupo, announcing his Build Against Cancer stream. The charity streams will happen on December 19-20 and all proceeds will go towards St. Jude’s Children Hospital. He will be joined by other streamers such as Jordan Fisher, Bloodyfaster, and djWheat to raise as much money as they can for St. Jude. Many groups such as Rooster Teeth have taken the time during quarantine to benefit various charities and Dr Lupo will do the same for St. Jude.

Although Twitch as a company has made many questionable decisions and choices lately, such as suggesting streamers mute in-game audio to avoid a copyright strike, the streamers themselves are looking to do what they can to make streaming and the world a better place. Perhaps other top streamers will join the trend and use the tips they receive for better causes.
