Earlier this month, rumors began to spread that Dr. Dre could be involved with a future Grand Theft Auto Online appearance that featured new music. Now, it seems that those rumors could be true and more focused on the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition release as someone with, perhaps, the most knowledge of what Dr. Dre would be doing spoke out recently: Snoop Dogg.

Snoop D-O-double G spoke recently on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast and he spoke of Dr. Dre working on "the next GTA" like it was a sure thing. As Rockstar has made well known, GTA 6 is very far away so that leaves Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition as the only game he could be referring to.

On the podcast episode scheduled to release on October 29, Snoop said “I do know he's in the studio...I do know he’s making great (expletive) music. And some of his music is connected to the GTA game that’s coming out." This falls in line with earlier rumors that Dr. Dre supposedly let slip to a travel influencer over dinner earlier this month supposedly with GTA Online, but with these words coming straight from the Dogg's mouth, this could be Dr. Dre's real link to his upcoming work somewhere in the Grand Theft Auto franchise. The excerpt from Rolling Stone does not indicate when Snoop knew Dr. Dre was working on this music so he could've finished his contribution months ago.

Rockstar Games has not confirmed anything to anyone at Rolling Stone or anyone else, but with this information coming from one of Dr. Dre's longest business partners, it all but confirms that his music likely will appear in any one of the games in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition. There are still several weeks left before the lead-up to the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, so plenty of time for Rockstar to ramp up promotion and officially announce the new songs coming and which game they will be in. These songs are likely to add to the tracklist that has been thinned out thanks to expiring copyright deals.

Speculating for a bit, Dr. Dre originally featured on five songs in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas both as a solo artist and during his time with N.W.A. Canonically, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is set in 1992 that would coincide with the height of Dr. Dre's rap career. Rockstar Games will also most likely use GTA Online to cross-promote the game as it has done already with adding cosmetic items that reference GTA 3. It also begs the question as to whether or not Dr. Dre is the only artist that is creating new music or if there are there other artists that have featured in past games but are being more tight-lipped about it.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition launches on November 11 for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
