Streamers on Twitch, YouTube, and other platforms are almost never wholly solo acts. Tons of streamers have built online careers for themselves by conversing and collaborating with each other. A great example was last year's Among Us craze, where streamers big and small played together for months on end and built up each others' fan bases, showcasing the power of collaboration. However, not every relationship on Twitch or YouTube is amiable. These platforms are ripe for friendship and community building, but they also play a major part in driving online feuds like the latest conflict between Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS.

Both Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS are famous thanks to one genre of games: shooters. The pair of them have created content focused on games like Call of Duty for years, and they're only two out of many talented FPS-focused streamers on Twitch and YouTube. However, this pairing stands out because of their history of conflicting opinions. Although Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS have collaborated before, they often butt heads nowadays, resulting in high-profile Internet feuds. In late October, a new feud between Doc and Nick erupted when Nick responded to a tweet about a long-time sticking point in their relationship: Doc's hatred of aim assist.

The Core of the Twitter Feud

Dr Disrespect Isn't Having Fun With Call of Duty Vanguard

The tweet that started Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS' latest argument wasn't about anything new. For a long time now, Dr Disrespect has been critical about the impact of aim assist in Call of Duty: Warzone. Aim assist is a vital part of many competitive shooters, helping players using console controllers keep up with players on a more FPS-friendly keyboard and mouse control scheme, but Doc is very vocal about his hatred of aim assist's strength in Warzone. In late October, Doc ranted to his YouTube stream about aim assist, then tweeted about the mechanic to further express his frustration.

The feud then erupted when NICKMERCS replied to Dr Disrespect's tweet, taunting Doc and saying he should just use a controller. Dr Disrespect snapped back without hesitation, saying that he'd like to slap NICKMERCS' sunglasses off of his face someday, which prompted the pair to exchange a couple more barbs. Naturally, this feud drew the attention of fans on both sides as well as plenty of other Twitter users who wanted to see where it would go. It's worth noting that this wasn't Doc and NICKMERCS' first feud this year; they argued about their FPS skills in April 2021 too. Still, the sudden nature of this latest argument seemed remarkable.

Streamer Nickmercs is Staying on Twitch

Because of the heated nature of the argument between Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS, some spectators wondered if their beef might finally come to physical blows. Twitch and YouTube users are no strangers to figures like Logan Paul issuing challenges to famous people in all sorts of industries. It doesn't seem to have escalated that far, though. Instead, Doc and Nick have let their feud simmer as usual before continuing to go about their business. There's no sign that this will be the next big boxing match between YouTube stars.

In a sense, it doesn't seem likely that it'll ever come to that. Doc and Nick have made content together before, and some of their Twitter jabs seem more like tough banter than true aggression. After Twitch banned Dr Disrespect, NICKMERCS notably expressed his wishes to chat with Doc about his status and his own disbelief about the ban. It seems clear that Doc and Nick's relationship is more complicated than their Twitter arguments might suggest at a glance. The Internet is famously good at hosting arguments, but Dr Disrespect and NICKMERCS don't let that weigh them down. They may not see eye to eye, and that might lead to the pair exchanging verbal blows sometimes, but they'll always move on to new things.
