Announced Friday, Guy "Dr DisRespect" Beahm IV has teamed up with multi-platform production company Skybound Entertainment to collaborate on a new narrative scripted television series. Skybound Entertainment, owned by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, will work alongside Dr DisRespect for the series which is said to be based on the streamer’s alter ego character.

Made possible by Skybound Entertainment and Beahm’s talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the flagship deal is the first deal of this magnitude that’s been seen by the video game community.

Although the new series has yet to land a network deal, Beahm says the new deal is “pretty early in terms of the creative and the direction,” but did suggest that animation may be involved with the new project. Beahm, who returned to Twitch earlier this year following his suspension, also expressed his desire to keep the show focused so that “everything stays consistent” to maintain the “authenticity of the character.” When asked about Dr DisRespect, Skybound co-founder and CEO David Alpert said there’s “something special” about what Beahm has been able to do with his streaming platform and can’t wait to get started working with the “largest figure to ever be in the video game space in the history of the world." Without providing too many details, Beahm and Alpert acknowledged that the new series will center around the story of "how the doctor became the doctor.”

The popular Twitch streamer has made a rather popular name for himself on the streaming platform by embodying his WWE-inspired alter ego Dr DisRespect. As a result, Beahm has amassed over 3.8 million followers and more than 100 million views on Twitch. Though Beahm doesn’t exactly see himself as a pioneer for the streaming community, he does acknowledge the immensity of the new deal and hopes it will “take things to the next level” for the rest of the gaming community and “reverberates and legitimizes the world of streaming.”

Though the television series deal is a first for the streaming community, many popular streamers have also landed some pretty big deals of their own this past year. Most notably, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins announced earlier this year that he would be leaving Twitch to join Mixer, Microsoft's competing streaming platform, in a rather large deal worth up to $50 million. Popular Twitch streamer DisguisedToast also announced he would be leaving Twitch earlier this month to join Facebook’s new streaming platform, Facebook Gaming.

When asked what his current plans are as they relate to his full-time streaming gig with Twitch, Beahm replied, "That is the bread and butter right now,” while also hinting at possible “parallel” deals with Skybound’s media network. This will undoubtedly be an interesting series to watch develop heading into 2020.
