The rivalry between the streaming platforms Twitch and Mixer has ended with the latter company being shut down so that Microsoft could partner with Facebook Gaming. While it is still unclear why Mixer was abandoned,  plenty of players have had theories as to why a platform with some of the biggest streamers would end relatively quickly and unceremoniously. A long time Twitch streamer, Dr Disrespect has now given his thoughts on the matter in a way that is in keeping with his confrontational character.

Dr Disrespect has a history of criticizing streamers who moved to Mixer, and in the wake of the platform shutting down, it seems that the streamer was right to turn down an offer from the company. While Twitch has outlasted its competitor it seems that Dr Disrespect may now regret not making a brief more like other players. The player made a statement about the money that Mixer streamers will have made from Mixer.

Addressing the contracts streamers such as Shroud received, Dr Disrespect appears to have gone back on his original negative stance on Mixer and lamented these streamers getting "10 million" for only eight months of work. If streamers such as Ninja or Shroud who joined Mixer in the last year are being paid the full amount of the contract then joining may have been smart business. While no one would have expected Mixer to fold so quickly, it does seem that it may have hugely benefited its top performers. After all, both Ninja and Shroud are now free to join whatever streaming platform they choose because their contracts with Mixer are now void. Naturally, Dr Disrespect was going to have an angry response about this.

While Dr Disrespect seems to have conceded that he was the one who lost out in this instance, the situation may be more complex for returning streamers.  It seemed that players like Ninja left to form larger brand deals and this may not be possible if they return to Twitch and with this in mind, they may look to a new platform. However, Twitch may make exceptions for players who bring a lot of viewers to the platform and it seems that there may be lengthy contract discussions ahead for major Mixer streamers.

It seems that the major Mixer signings have made a quick profit from the company, much to the annoyance of Dr Disrespect. However, smaller streamers who have invested time in the platform may be disappointed at losing a fan base and having to start over again on a new platform. While there are clear winners from this situation, it is evident that there are also streamers who have lost out.
