With one of the biggest communities in the streaming world and a career that now spans outside of just Twitch, Dr DisRespect is easily one of the more influential figures in gaming. From his recent comments about fellow streamer Summit1G to the time he spoke out about online personality Alinity's supposed animal abuse, Dr DisRespect hasn't been afraid to speak his mind, and in a recent stream, the popular content creator decided to use his influence to address the flaws in one of esports' biggest events.
Talking to his followers while viewing a post-match replay on an Overwatch stream, Dr DisRespect launched a long verbal outcry surrounding the game's hard to follow nature, citing that the experience for viewers was "terrible." This wasn't anything to do with the actual gameplay itself, but instead due to the inaccessible nature of the event to newcomers, which, as many will know, Dr DisRespect is.
Watching the post-match replay, the popular streamer grew more and more impatient with footage, before eventually venting his frustration through one of his signature rants. He sarcastically begins by stating "Look at this, ready, woah yeah woah. I’m on TBS watching the ELeague Overwatch League," following on by mockingly citing "I’m a brand-new person and I really know what’s going on, this is really fun to watch!” The internet personality then slams his hand down on the table and aggressively shouts "it's terrible!"

The rant follows a growing complaint in the Overwatch community that the game's signature Overwatch League event is bar unwatchable to newcomers. As Dr Disrespect's sarcastic criticism highlights, Overwatch is such a chaotic game that anyone without a good grasp on the title's systems will be confused about what's actually going on, which is a major concern when debuting an eSport on such a huge stage. While titles like Counter Strike are far easier to enjoy without a deep knowledge of the game, Overwatch's accessibility to newcomers is far less accepting.
With Dr DisRespect managing to grow past his roots as a streamer and even make his way to the likes of the Jimmy Kimmel show and WWE SmackDown, it's evident his rant could have a major effect on how his audience perceives the Overwatch League. Hopefully, it could lead the major players behind the popular eSports event to take into consideration these criticisms and perhaps create a more approachable version of the event for new fans in the future. After all, Overwatch has been accused of down trending in recent years, and getting new eyes on the product will no doubt be healthier for the game's community going forward.
