Popular Call of Duty streamer Dr Disrespect has been known to share his thoughts on a breadth of topics. Whether it’s calling out issues he has with Call of Duty or slamming the New York Times, Dr Disrespect is never afraid to share his opinions. But now it appears the streamer might have more than critiques, as he recently has expressed interest in creating a new “billion-dollar IP.”

It’s one thing to have ideas, but people seem to value what Dr Disrespect has to say. Shortly after leveling complaints at YouTube over its lack of features, YouTube brought Dr Disrespect in to talk about improving the site. The opinions and critiques Dr Disrespect shares to his 3 million followers about Call of Duty have undoubtedly had an impact too. After all, before becoming the wraparound sunglasses-sporting internet celebrity he is today, Herschel "Guy” Beahm IV was a multiplayer level designer on Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Recently on one of his streams, Dr Disrespect lamented how he feels that the video game industry is “starving for the next big idea,” calling the issue “pretty apparent.” To solve this perceived issue, Disrespect says “We just need to make our own game. Get a little budget, get some funding, you know. Maybe raise $20-25 million and just go and build a billion-dollar IP.” He blames the stagnation of the industry on the “three to four” games that are “dominating” the industry, assumedly referring to Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Apex Legends’ immense popularity in his sphere of competitive online shooters.

Apparently, Dr Disrespect wasn’t simply rambling during his stream either, as some fans caught a folder on his streaming desktop titled “GameIdea_1.” The contents of the folder remain to be seen, but it has gotten fans of Disrespect talking about what his game idea could entail. The streamer added that his idea would have to have a hook or mechanic that is “revolutionary,” citing building in Fortnite as a key example.

While Disrespect insists that coming up with this “revolutionary” idea, getting the necessary funding, and seeing the project to fruition “would be pretty easy,” the realities of game development are much different. Creating successful AAA titles is incredibly difficult, even with some of the most talented people in the industry behind them.

While $20 million dollars may be enough to get a project started, the kind of high-level sustained development needed for a massive online shooter like Fortnite or Apex Legends is surely much higher. Still, Dr Disrespect’s multiplayer expertise could make him a valuable creative asset for a new game.
