Many may consider Dr Disrespect’s Twitch ban as old news, given how long ago it was now. But, the problem is that it’s very much an ongoing issue for his fans and particularly for the Doc himself. There have been some developments in the time since, with the Doc opening up about the anxiety of the ban, his learning of why he was banned, his financial losses because of the ban, and more. It’s no secret that the Doc is suing Twitch, as his reputation took quite the hit from all its surrounding controversy.
In the days following Dr Disrespect’s Twitch ban, his name was dragged through the mud across the entire internet. Many claimed to know why with no proof, and others claimed it had to do something with a criminal element. That, at this point, seems less likely than ever. And, in a recent stream, Dr Disrespect revealed that he is “shadowbanned” by EA and called out the company for its reaction to his Twitch ban.
During a November 12 stream, Doc put it out there into the world: “Champs, I am on a shadowban list from EA. There, I’ll say it. I’ve been shadowbanned by EA.” What’s important to note is this doesn’t stop him from playing EA games, as he has played Battlefield 2042 and Apex Legends both multiple times since switching to YouTube, but that Dr Disrespect's permanent Twitch ban has impacted his ability to work with some companies, and EA may be the worst of it based on his comments. Indeed, “permanent Twitch ban” comes across as a red flag to not work with him, regardless of the reasoning or explanation.
Doc would go on, after all of this, to call out EA more directly based on the current situation. “So much defamation related to the ban that we’ve had to deal with, it’s insane. To not be involved with the Battlefield launch. First off, it’s been a year-and-a-half. EA, don’t be pathetic. You’re talking about the two-time, back to back…Don’t be so pathetic and scared to death. Holy sh*t, it’s embarrassing.”
In the past, he had served as a major name and partner for supporting game launches such as with Battlefield, and this loss of real working relationships is what he seems to lament most. “All of the stuff we did with EA, ya know. The connections. The relationships we had built over the years…”
There are so many details to this situation that are currently unknown. Of this specifically is how Doc learned he was on a shadowban list, if this is exactly true, and at a larger scale is if fans will ever learn more of the truth behind Dr Disrespect's Twitch ban. In the absence of any real facts, the internet took to baseless speculation from the get-go, and that in and of itself seemingly fits the “insane" defamation that Dr Disrespect is reportedly enduring and blaming as Twitch’s wrongdoing.
