Dr Disrespect is well known to be reactionary on his broadcasts. Part of the YouTube streamer's character is to be a prototypical "angry gamer," frustrated when they lose and cocky when they win. It's no surprise then that Dr Disrespect has previously quit Call of Duty: Warzone multiple times, only to go back shortly thereafter. This past week was no different, with Dr Disrespect opening his stream with Call of Duty: Warzone and quitting straight after. "I might not ever play Caldera ever again," was Dr Disrespect's comment. He'd later be asked what it would take to bring him back.
"I don't want to play Caldera ever again," is how Dr Disrespect characterized his frustration with Call of Duty: Warzone at the moment. He did have a pretty significant caveat to that statement, however. He'd go on to say that he won't be playing Caldera again, at least until the start of the next season, so he can "capitalize on the viewership" boost that comes alongside it. That's just a touch of insight into why Dr Disrespect keeps going back to Call of Duty: Warzone despite his hate for Caldera.
While his first explanation is somewhat of a joke, Dr Disrespect did later provide a more serious answer for what might bring him back to Call of Duty: Warzone. The YouTube streamer was asked whether he'd go back if the map was changed back to Verdansk. Dr Disrespect answered in the affirmative, reconfirming that he hates Caldera.
Dr Disrespect has been heavily focusing on Apex Legends lately, as he's grown more and more frustrated with Call of Duty: Warzone. The exact reasons Dr Disrespect dislikes Warzone so much seem to change with every response he has to the question. Just in this lone stream, he talks about disliking Caldera's balance, its weapons, and even its "fiction," saying he doesn't want to play a World War 2 game in 2022.
Yet while Dr Disrespect has an abundance of criticism for Call of Duty: Warzone, he also continues to return to the game over and over again. That's not to say that his frustration with Call of Duty: Warzone is faked, though it may be exaggerated. He just also understands that Call of Duty: Warzone is a very popular game with a big audience. Playing it from time to time is lucrative.
The performance is the fun of watching Dr Disrespect. His viewership enjoys his over-the-top reactions to playing games. But Dr Disrespect's criticism is also valid and reflective of the views of a significant number of battle royale players. It's part of why Activision is already looking to launch Call of Duty: Warzone 2 sooner than later.
