After months of waiting, Call of Duty: Warzone fans are about to experience a massive update for the battle royale. The main highlight of this update is the new Caldera map replacing Verdansk. In addition, this new update brings the RICOCHET anti-cheat system, changes to the Gulag that lets players take a gun back to the arena if they win, and the removal of Stopping Power rounds. While many players are excited to see these new changes in action, streaming star Dr Disrespect is less than enthused.

During a recent livestream from December 1, Dr Disrespect revealed that the changes coming to Warzone with the Caldera map failed to impress him. The discussion about the upcoming map started after he died during a game of the battle royale. His fellow streamer TimTheTatman tried to defend the changes, pressing the Doc to give legitimate reasons for his opinion.

Unsurprisingly, Dr Disrespect obliged by saying that the game studio needed to go big with some new innovation. According to the Doc, the developers needed to do more to push the game forward. To further his point, he brought up rival battle royale Apex Legends. In the example, he explained how Respawn Entertainment evolved the armor system in the game. The title innovated by introducing Evo shields that allowed players to upgrade their armor by dealing damage. “That just put it on a next level, for the gameplay,” he said. Apparently, this was the level of game design changes that the Doc wanted to see in the forthcoming update for Warzone as well.

After listening to Dr Disrespect state his displeasure about the changes coming to Warzone, TimTheTatman asked the Doc what he would do to fix the game. His response was surprising, to say the least. “I’d consider Unreal Engine,” he said. Given the wild statements made by Dr Disrespect over the years, it is unclear whether he was joking about the change or if he was serious. However, considering that the game was built on the IW Engine, it is hard to believe that rebuilding the title on a new engine would be feasible. Following this statement, he did backtrack somewhat, commenting that he enjoyed certain aspects of the current game engine.

Regardless of whether any of these comments are taken literally from the developers working on Call of Duty: Warzone, it seems that Dr Disrespect has made his opinion about the new changes for the game abundantly clear. It will be interesting to see if this opinion of the streamer towards the Caldera map changes once it releases on December 8.

Call of Duty: Warzone is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
