The mustachio'd YouTube content creator Dr Disrespect does not stand on ceremony when it comes to voicing his opinions about video games. Recently, he went viral on social media after announcing how much he was bored with the battle royale game Apex Legends. However, a recent video from the streamer confirms that he actually doesn't dislike the game, and actually seems to respect it.
In the video, Dr Disrespect, who's real name is Herschel "Guy" Beahm, suggested that he may have flown off the handle slightly by saying that he hated the game. He confirms that he actually likes it, saying that he has been enjoying it, both on and off stream. He adds that his negative comments were spoken during the heat of the moment, and that his criticisms are actually more of an endorsement than outright disapproval of Apex Legends.
His rationale behind his outburst is that, if he isn't raging about a game or tweeting about it to all his followers, then chances are he doesn't like that game too much. In contrast, if Dr Disrepect, who was recently blocked by security when trying to help an NBA player, is saying negative things about something during his streams, or tweeting about it, then chances are he does like the game and simply wants to see it improve. The fact that he had such negative things to say about Apex shows that he actually cares about the title.
However, this isn't the first time he's had negative things to say about the game. At the start of July, the YouTube content creator said he was once again bored with Apex Legends and that he didn't want to play it again. Given that he's now saying that he actually does like the game, it's understandable why some people may think he's either flip-flopping on his opinion, or he's simply being vocal about his negative backlash in order to spur the developers on to make the game better.
Whatever the case may be, he is someone for whom controversy often follows in his wake. Dr Disrespect has been critical of the likes of Call of Duty: Warzone, saying the developers don't know what they're doing. However, with this latest video, he finds Apex Legends more praiseworthy than Warzone, saying that the former is a "breath of fresh air." It's not always easy to tell what Dr Disrespect will say next, but it's this persona which is arguably the reason why he has millions of subscribers on YouTube.
