Dota 2's 7.29 update is finally dropping today, bringing the new hero Dawnbreaker with it. After a long wait, many fans are eager to get their hands on the new hero, and with her massive hammer and interesting abilities, Dawnbreaker promises to shake things up in Dota 2.

On Dawnbreaker's official Dota 2 hero page, Valve describes the hero as the "most prized warrior amongst the Children's ancient creations," and says that she is "the shining herald of the majesty of order and light." After she failed a mission many millennia ago she, along with all of the gods she served died. She was left drifting aimlessly in a dark abyss until she crashed into a new world. There, a young star resurrected her with the power of an ancient forge of the Children. Now, she has awoken to a world that has succumbed to constant war by the forces of chaos, reigniting her quest to restore the light.

Dawnbreaker's hero page also gives extensive details on her role in Dota 2, her stats, and her four abilities. She is rated as three-quarters durable and one-quarter carry with a base attack of 62-66. Her first ability is Starbreaker, where Dawnbreaker swings her hammer around her 3 times in an AOE attack before smashing it down in front of herself and stunning enemies. Her second ability, Celestial Hammer, allows her to throw her hammer forward, damaging any enemies hit along the way. After two seconds the hammer returns to Dawnbreaker, leaving a trail of fire behind it that slows enemies down for 2.5 seconds. However, if she doesn't want to wait for the hammer to return, she can recall it to dash towards the hammer and meet it halfway.

Luminosity, her third power, is activated after three successful hits, powering Dawnbreaker up and causing her next hit to be a guaranteed critical that heals nearby allies for 35% of the damage dealt. Her final ability, Solar Guardian has great support potential for Dota 2. The ability allows her to create a "pulsing effect" within 350 units of any allied hero that damages enemies and heals allies within it. After a short while, she flies to the area, dealing damage to and stunning enemies when she lands.

All in all, Dawnbreaker seems like a great addition to the stacked Dota 2 roster with a lot of unique options that help her stand out. She arrives with a long list of changes in the patch notes, and with Dota 2's updated onboarding for new players, now is a great time for any interested players to give the MOBA a chance. For any current players, Dawnbreaker seems like a fun new hero to try out and see how she fits into the game's complicated meta.
