If a leaked retail listing is true, Doraemon looks to be receiving a brand new game for the Nintendo Switch. The film Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars is releasing next year, and a Switch game may be coming along with it with the same name.

The retail listing was seen on Rakuten's website. This wouldn't be the first time a game based on the manga was released, as Doraemon: Story of Season is out now on the PS4, PC, and Switch. While that game is a role-playing farming simulator akin to Harvest Moon or Stardew ValleyDoraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars will be a party game.

The original Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars movie released back in 1985, and it is currently being remade. It is set to be released in March of 2021, and the game will also release in that timeframe. According to the listing, the game will be packed with mini-games for up to four people. Players will collect Doraemon’s Gadgets and aim for first place. Doraemon is a beloved Japanese manga that is lesser-known in other parts of the world. For now, the game is set to release in Japan only, but that could change.

Video games, anime, and manga have an interesting and in some ways intertwined relationship. At one point, anime and video games were a "nerdy" part of pop culture, but now those things have burst into the mainstream consciousness. There are many great anime-based games of all different sorts. The Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars game sounds intriguing, it will be interesting to see if it ends up releasing in the west, and how successful it is.
