When players think of armored badasses, two heroes come to mind: Master Chief (Halo) and Doom Guy (Doom). Gamers who played with these warriors can see a striking image of their acts of awesomeness: Master Chief, fighting the covenant with an Energy Sword, and Doom Guy slaying demons with his BFG 9000. Fans of their beloved franchises probably enjoyed countless hours of shuffling through weapons and shooting baddies. However, what happens if Master Chief places Doom Guy in his crosshairs?

Gamers can proudly say these two warriors formed the foundation of great FPS experiences. So when it comes to putting these FPS giants toe-to-toe against each other, who would dominate? Can Master Chief's arsenal of Halo's futuristic weapons guarantee a sure victory, or will Doom Guy's slate of crazy weapons incapacitate Master Chief?

7 The Backup: Master Chief And The Blue Team

While Master Chief served most of his days in Halo fighting Earth's threats alone, he did have a trusted team of comrades. Master Chief led the Blue Team to victory in the Human-Covenant War, and he can depend on them in this fight against Doom Guy.

Like the Master Chief, Spartan soldiers make up the famous Blue Team. In-game, the team's composed of Spartan-II soldiers - more battle-hardened than the more recent Spartan-IV. Master Chief's companions Kelly-087, Linda-058, and Frederic-104 currently form the Blue Team. Like their Spartan counterparts in other teams, they come equipped with the same training as the Master Chief, and Earth supplies them with the same equipment as their leader. Their rapport with Master Chief can help them perform complex squad maneuvers without much difficulty.

6 The Backup: Doom Guy And The Night Sentinels

Perhaps the most iconic "backup" we can associate with Doom Guy would be the Night Sentinels. They serve as the guardians of the legendary Wraiths, the interdimensional beings from Argent D'Nur. As Sentinels worship the Wraiths, they receive Sentinel Energy that makes them powerful allies against Hell's forces. Doom Guy has become a Night Sentinel himself during his time with them, and he's the only human to have ever joined their ranks.

The Night Sentinels didn't accompany Doom Guy in most of his journey in Hell. In this fight with Master Chief, however, they may be able to provide valuable support. They come equipped with energized shields, spears, and blades. Night Sentinels can also fight long-ranged with their special Ballista. Unfortunately, as they're trained mostly as protectors instead of fighters, the Night Sentinels may not be of much help against the more adept Spartans of the Blue Team.

5 The Skills: Master Chief Is Made For Battle

From Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo: Guardians, Master Chief remains instrumental in the efforts to protect Earth from intergalactic threats. Master Chief has faced many beings across the Covenant's multiple species and even fought the Forerunners in the first Halo trilogy. As a product of the Spartan program, Master Chief can last hours - or even days - of fighting without feeling exhausted. His enhanced physique allows him to perform superhuman feats and outlast his foes. His physiology, combined with his military knowledge and advanced weaponry, helped Master Chief survive through the Halo franchise.

Aside from his superhuman physique, Master Chief wears the iconic Mjolnir Powered Assault Armor, which becomes upgraded throughout the Halo series. This armor works in tandem with Master Chief's many weapons, forming the game's overall HUD. As Earth dedicated much of its military technology to defend the planet, Master Chief and the Spartans come equipped with various hi-tech weaponry. These range from Earth-based assault rifles, up to exotic Covenant particle weapons, and the Halo signature Energy Sword. Earth made the Master Chief for battle, and he comes to any fight prepared with his gear.

4 The Skills: Battle Created Doom Guy

Contrary to Master Chief, Doom Guy didn't train to face demons in Hell. As his backstory changes in between games, players don't know a lot of things about Doom Guy's past. The Doom series explained that Doom Guy did have military training, as he's an engineer for the marines. He ended up fighting demons on Deimos and Phobos (as in Mars' moons) before ending up taking the fight to hell. He's found himself facing a wide variety of demons throughout the Doom series, alongside other gruesome threats. One can say Doom Guy never expected to meet such a carnage despite his military background. And yet Doom Guy prevailed with whatever weapons he can find throughout his journey.

Doom Guy's lack of training against demons makes his feats impressive. His signature Praetor armor gives him the ability to resist most demonic basic attacks. However, it's his mastery of his unique weapons (from the standard shotgun to a chainsaw) that helped him kick serious demon butt. Moreover, Doom Guy only received power-ups during his journey in Hell's regions, not prior. When the Night Sentinels captured Doom Guy, he proved himself capable of fighting interdimensional threats by facing them head-on. Additionally, the Seraphim's blessings upon Doom Guy gave him superhuman speed and strength that proved devastating for the demonic horde.

3 The Big Bad: Master Chief Against Earth's Threats

Master Chief didn't face any "giant" monsters by himself. He did fight various powerful entities throughout the Halo games. These include an ancient Forerunner AI (Warden Eternal), a mutated legendary warrior (Ur-Didact), and an acclaimed military chief (Tartarus), among others. These enemies are no "universal" threats, but their possession of advanced military intellect and story-driven motives make them interesting villains in their own right.

In the games, Master Chief fights these bosses using his strategic prowess. He has to navigate through multiple levels and use weapons scattered throughout the battlefield to gain the upper hand. In Halo, "bosses" are formidable, not because of their health bars of massive size. Instead, bosses force players (and therefore Master Chief) to utilize their environment and turn the tide of battle to their favor. Like a master tactician, Master Chief secures victory not just through sheer force but also through strategy.

2 The Big Bad: Doom Guy And The Icon Of Sin

Meanwhile, Doom Guy is best known to slay hordes of demons. This motif remains consistent throughout the classic Doom games up to the recently-released Doom Eternal. Perhaps the most iconic of Doom Guy's villains is the Icon of Sin, which serves as the final boss of all Doom releases except the first game. The Icon of Sin is an interdimensional threat that appears only to herald the destruction of Earth. If left unchecked, the Icon of Sin will eventually cause Hell to absorb the Earth - and soon, the Universe - inside it.

The fact that Doom Guy managed to defeat the Icon of Sin is an incredible feat. Even if fans say Doom Guy only managed to do this thanks to Seraphim augmentations, the fact remains that Doom Guy managed to defeat a colossal creature of this size all by himself. The lack of a "giant monster battle" in Halo makes it difficult to "power scale" Master Chief in this manner, but Doom Guy's defeat of the Icon of Sin gives him a massive advantage over the former.

1 The Victor: Doom Guy Annihilates Master Chief

Despite Master Chief's advanced training, Doom Guy can easily overpower him by virtue of the Doom hero's resilience. Doom Guy faced interdimensional threats with an assortment of crazy weapons and a few "divine" power-ups, but he fought them without prior training or practice. Hell kept on throwing demon after demon, and Doom Guy always found ways to decimate them. Meanwhile, Earth created Master Chief specifically as a super soldier, meaning he comes to battle equipped with an advanced physique and a powerful suit.

Master Chief may outlast Doom Guy in battle, but Doom Guy will want to end the fight quickly. Gamers can't dismiss Master Chief's military and strategic prowess, as the Halo hero's familiarity with alien weaponry may help him use Doom Guy's weapons against himself. However, the same could be said with Doom Guy and his adaptability. Doom Guy's skill in adjusting to his environment can help him fight unpredictably, something Master Chief may not be able to counter easily.
