It is without a doubt that the Doom franchise pioneered first-person shooter games ever since its debut back in 1993. In its long history, the Doom series has produced numerous games and was later adapted in novels, comic books, and films. Now, die-hard fans of Doom on the PC would be happy to know that Green Man Gaming is currently offering massive discounts of up to 70% off on select games in the franchise, including the pre-order of the series' next installment.

Headlining Green Man Gaming's Doom Franchise sale is the upcoming title Doom Eternal, which will serve as a direct sequel to 2016's Doom. The game is available for the PC for $50.39, which is 16% off its current list price of $59.99. Several weeks ago, the official PlayStation Twitter account revealed a new demon called Whiplash for the upcoming game. Whiplash is described as a "slithering, chain-lashing foe." DOOM Eternal is set to release on March 20, 2020, for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a Switch version launching at a later date.

Another notable title that is available for purchase at a discount right now is 2016's Doom. The game is available for a cheap price of $5.16, which is 74% cheaper than its current price of $19.99. Doom serves as a reboot of the franchise and is the first mainline game to release after a long hiatus of twelve years. Doom was released to mostly positive reviews and was heralded for its faithful capture of the spirit of classic Doom games from the '90s.

Other games in Green Man Gaming's Doom Franchise sale include:

Yesterday, id Software's lead engine programmer, Billy, Khan, talked about what PC players can expect on Doom Eternal. According to Khan, PC players with a highly optimized setup can expect an insane performance thanks to the studio's proprietary game engine called id Tech 7. According to Khan, they were able to run Doom Eternal at 400 frames per second using a specialized setup, which is definitely impressive even with today's technology.

Meanwhile, id Software's creative director, Hugo Martin, revealed last month that Doom Eternal will not feature any microtransactions. The developer clearly stated that because Doom Eternal is a full-priced game, it will provide players with "a complete experience" with no in-game store that requires any real-world currency. Instead of letting players pay their way into the game, Martin revealed that Doom Eternal will have a system for unlocking content, which will allow players to earn XP that can be used to obtain in-game cosmetics.
