In Game Rant's PS5 console review, we discussed the DualSense controller and how its Haptic Feedback capabilities could be a game-changer for video game development. Through small vibrations, the controller can simulate a number of interactions, from the pitter-patter of rain on an umbrella to a character's feet getting stuck in mud.

While most gamers have yet to even go hands-on with the DualSense controller, some are already showing the potential of the PS5 accessory device through a number of mods. One individual showed that the Haptic Feedback on the DualSense can actually be used to recreate the music from DOOM.

In their video, YouTube user Menneth took a DualSense PS5 controller and sent audio signals to the device using a method shared on Reddit. Those who got their hands on a DualSense controller early discovered that the device adjusts its vibration based on the pitch and tone of an audio signal. In essence, the DualSense can recreate the right song if the parameters were right.

Menneth found that At Doom's Gate from the DOOM (2016) soundtrack was the perfect fit for this DualSense PS5 controller recreation. They put the controller on top of a cardboard box to amplify the sounds of the Haptic Feedback and the unmistakable rumble of the hellish music comes through very well.

Although this is a very cool demonstration of how the Haptic Feedback in the DualSense controller could work, it's unclear what the practical applications may be. Right now, there is only a small sample size of games that are designed specifically for the DualSense controller, and many of them are focused on more immersion-based applications. But, if recreating audio is clearly possible, then there may be some ways that developers can use the DualSense that gamers don't yet realize.
