The response to Doom and Doom Eternal's soundtracks have been incredible, so it was only a matter of time before another developer took the next step, mixing Doom's awesome visceral FPS gameplay and rock soundtrack with a rhythm game. That's what BPM: Bullets Per Minute is.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute was revealed this past week with a fast-paced and bloody gameplay trailer. It's a heavy metal FPS rogue-like where players have to shoot, jump, and dodge to the rhythm of the beat. Enemies are restrained by the beat of the music too, making gameplay in BPM: Bullets Per Minute feel like an intense and action-packed dance.

To give BPM: Bullets Per Minute something extra, developers Awe Interactive also added a rogue-like level generation feature to the game. Each dungeon will have a unique layout, replete with awesome weapons and abilities to find. The greater game will feature 7 total bosses, as well as a final boss for players to fight through.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute is exactly the kind of inspired game design that indies are able to do that bigger publishers would never experiment with. That said, proving that it stands apart from just a Doom-like with a fun gimmick will require more than just a cool trailer. Expect to hear more about BPM: Bullets Per Minute in the months to come.

BPM: Bullets Per Minute releases on PC this summer and on consoles this winter.
