Despite only releasing yesterday, Doom: Eternal has already received an onslaught of positive reviews and feedback from those who have played it. From its chaotic gunplay and brutal violence to its stunning visuals and tongue-in-cheek tone, it seems there's never been a better time to be a fan of the Doom franchise. However, with so many fantastic games currently making the rounds over each and every console, many are probably wondering how much playtime they'll get out of the Doom Slayer's newest adventure.

For those who played the reboot of Doom back in 2016, they'll no doubt remember that the game is on the shorter side, clocking in at around 11 hours for a normal playthrough. Naturally, the player can extend this time through exploring and looking for collectibles and unlockables, however, it seems many were let down by the shorter nature of the incredibly violent shooter.

Fortunately, Doom Eternal looks to rectify that exact criticism, with the game clocking in at a much meatier runtime of around 16 hours spread across its 13 missions. Fans can get more out of the game depending on their desire to explore as well, with some reviewers claiming the game's side content can elongate its length exponentially, with tons of small collectibles and even optional battles being available to the player if they desire. All in all, it appears Doom Eternal is much bigger than the previous game.

For those still on the fence about purchasing Doom Eternal, the game looks to be a bigger, bolder, and far more brutal rendition of its predecessor that will definitely appeal to anyone that's a fan of the FPS genre. Many have labeled it one of the best shooters of the generation, with its slick gunplay, satisfying melee kills, incredible platforming, and intense heavy metal soundtrack all combining to craft the definitive Doom experience.

With many currently locked down in quarantine due to the ever-expanding reach of the Coronavirus, it's clear players looking for a title to alleviate their boredom will get a lot of quality and quantity when they pick up the next entry in the Doom series. Alongside Eternal, it seems many are also picking up Animal Crossing: New Horizonswhich also launched on March 20. However fans are opting to spend their quarantine, there's no denying there's currently an incredible lineup of new games to help whittle away the time.

Doom Eternal is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a Switch version currently in development.
