The release of Doom Eternal is just over two months away, which means that fans do not have to wait much longer before getting their hands on this highly-anticipated first-person shooter from id Software. However, players that would like to see more of the title prior to its release may be happy to hear that Bethesda has just released a brand new Doom Eternal gameplay trailer, and indeed it packs quite a punch.

Opening with an image of Earth that is dated 2151, this new Doom Eternal gameplay trailer starts off with some light story setup before diving headfirst into the action. For those that are acquainted with the Doom franchise, this action will certainly feel familiar, as it centers around Doomguy taking some seriously big guns into battle against some seriously gruesome demons, and players that are in the market for fast and furious gunplay will likely not be disappointed by what they see here.

That said, Doom Eternal does have several surprises up its sleeve, and some of the game's new offerings are highlighted as the trailer reaches its climax. In particular, those that watch the video will get a good look at the Marauder and the Gladiator, two new enemies in Doom Eternal, as well as some brand new glory kills that continue Doom's established tradition of hyper-violence.

Additionally, the new Doom Eternal trailer zeros in on the game's rendition of the Crucible, a sword that fans may be familiar with from 2016's Doom, and indeed the blade seems to have the power to cut through foes like butter. While some players may prefer to stick to projectiles as their primary means of dispatching foes, Doom Eternal's Crucible sword appears to provide a nice alternative, and many fans will enjoy seeing it in action here.

When Doom Eternal's release date was delayed back in October 2019, id Software indicated that this was done to make sure that it was "delivering the best experience" with the release of the title. This meant making sure that the game has the level of polish that players expect from this legendary franchise, and fans can now look to this new trailer when attempting to determine if that is something that Doom Eternal will in fact be delivering on.

Doom Eternal is set to release on March 20, 2020, for the PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
