Last month, developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks released Doom Eternal, which is the latest installment in the longstanding first-person shooter franchise. Serving as a direct sequel to 2016's Doom, players will once again take the role of the Doom Slayer, who is an ancient warrior who hunts down demonic creatures from Hell. Now, Doom fans who still haven't tried out Doom Eternal would be happy to know that the game is currently discounted for the PC.

Giant PC video game retailer Steam is now offering Doom Eternal for $44.99, which is 25% off its original price of $59.99. It is worth noting, that Steam's price is currently the most competitive out there for the PC version of Doom Eternal, which is definitely good news for Doom fans given that the game is just over a month old. It is also worth knowing that Steam's price for Doom Eternal will only be available until May 12, so players interested should take advantage of the cheaper price now while it is still available.

Apart from the standard edition of the game, Steam is also offering a 25% discount on Doom Eternal's Deluxe Edition. This reduces the price of the Deluxe Edition to $67.49, which is a significant decrease from its original price of $89.99. To the uninitiated, Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition includes a Year One Pass that provides players access to two campaign add-ons that are set to release within the game's first year, a Demonic Slayer Skin, Classic Weapon Sound Pack, and Throwback sound effects for all guns in Doom Eternal.

Meanwhile, shortly after its release last month, Doom Eternal received mostly positive reviews from both players and critics, with some praising the game for re-introducing the franchise's classic combat together with the massive improvements made in its 2016 predecessor. Others commented on how Doom Eternal was able to take everything that was good from its predecessor while adding its own style in the process.

Additionally, it is pretty evident that id Software has been listening to all the criticisms of 2016's Doom during the development of Doom Eternal. One of the major improvements of Doom Eternal over its predecessor is its meatier campaign, which on average will take players around 16 hours to complete the main story. Of course, apart from the long campaign, Doom Eternal is bigger, bolder, and offers much more brutal gameplay than its predecessor, which will surely appeal to the most dedicated Doom fan.

Doom Eternal is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
