It's been over six months since the release of Doom Eternal and since that time, the game has taken much of the gaming community by storm. With how much success the game managed to achieve in such a short amount of time, the next logical step and one that many fans wanted the developers to take, was create additional content for Doom Eternal in the form of DLC. With the DLC campaign, The Ancient Gods, releasing in just a few days, the game's composer has decided to tease fans of the series with a new music track.

Mick Gordon was the composer of Doom (2016) and did some work on Doom Eternal. The soundtrack of Doom (2016) was well received by many who played the game, and is considered by many to be one of its best aspects. However, Gordon does not have any hand in the soundtrack for The Ancient Gods DLC. Shortly after the game's release, the composer said it was unlikely that he would return for future Doom sequels, due to a falling out with Id Software.

For some this is unfortunate, but despite Gordon's limited involvement with the game, many fans still enjoyed the Doom Eternal soundtrack. The new DLC campaign features two new composers, Andrew Hulshult and David Levy. Hulshult, in response to the official Doom Eternal Twitter page asking if he had anything to "test the speakers," posted a twenty second clip that showed off new music for the campaign. While brief, the clip did a good job of illustrating what to expect in terms of music for The Ancient Gods.

It will be interesting to see not only how different the music is in the DLC campaign compared to the main game, but also what kinds of things fans can expect from this new campaign. The previous Doom title did not feature any sort of extensive DLC like The Ancient Gods, so it will be interesting to see what features are included in the Doom Eternal DLC and which aren't.

In any case, this clip is a nice tease and hopefully a good indication of what's to come with the DLC campaign. There are a lot of hopes for what The Ancient Gods might bring, but one thing that it is known for is Doom Eternal's secret areas. It's possible that the campaign could also include additional secrets and Easter eggs for players to find.

Doom Eternal is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One with Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X ports currently in development.
