Dontnod Entertainment is primarily associated with the Life is Strange series. While it has released other titles such as Vampyr as well, many fans still wait for Dontnod Entertainment to continue its work on the Life is Strange series.

The Life is Strange series originally launched in 2015 and grew a dedicated fanbase around it. Dontnod Entertainment then followed the title up with Life is Strange 2 and The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, although it is not playing a role in the series' newest entry, Life is Strange: True Colors. Now, it seems as though Dontnod Entertainment may want to take a lengthy break from the series as well.

In speaking with IGN, Dontnod Entertainment CEO Oskar Guilbert says that at the moment the company is ready to move on from the series. He says that its reasoning has to do with the company looking to develop its own IP that it can retain full ownership and control of. Guilbert says that this decision allows the company to retain control of its portfolio and future. Dontnod's head of publishing Havier Spinat, however, did add that the company is continuing to watch what happens with the series because its fans care about Life is Strange, so the company does as well, even if it isn't currently involved with it.

As for what is in store for Dontnod Entertainment's future, Guilbert goes on to say that the company will continue to work with the publisher Focus Home Interactive, who published their title Vampyr. Dontnod Entertainment has confirmed that it is working on six new titles, and it seems that it wants to maintain complete ownership of those future titles. Little is known about just what those projects will entail, but Guilbert does say that Dontnod's return to Life is Strange is a possibility in the future, but that it isn't something the company is interested in at the moment.

While many Life is Strange fans may be disappointed that Dontnod is now currently working on the series, it is good to hear that the company will have so many titles for its fans in the future.

Fans of the series also have the upcoming Life is Strange: True Colors to look forward to while they wait for Dontnod Entertainment's next release. Regardless, it seems that Dontnod Entertainment is set on continuing to pursue its independence by owning its own IP as well as Dontnod Entertainment publishing a new game from indie studio PortaPlay. Either way, it will be great to see what the studio will bring in the future.

Life is Strange: True Colors is set to release September 10 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
