In 2020, it was announced that Olivia Wilde would direct an MCU movie. The upcoming film Don't Worry Darling got a lot of attention when it was announced and when the Don't Worry Darling trailer was released, thanks to the star power attached and the thriller premise. There have been many news stories about Olivia Wilde, Harry Styles, Shia LaBeouf, and Florence Pugh.

Harry Styles has acted in several films, from playing Eros in Eternals to starring in Christopher Nolan's 2017 film Dunkirk. It was big news that Styles would play Jack in Don't Worry Darling, but after fans got the chance to see some clips from the movie, this became a discussion of its own.

According to Buzzfeed News, fans were able to see an 18-second clip of Jack and Alice having a fight. People were confused because they couldn't make out Styles's accent and if Jack is meant to be British or American, and people took to Twitter to talk about it.

Shia LaBeouf's Exit

Recently, Olivia Wilde said that she fired Shia LaBeouf from the film. In an interview with Variety, Wilde said that she needed to "protect" the energy on set and that she couldn't work with him.

According to Variety, LaBeouf then said that wasn't the case, and he forwarded several email exchanges between him and Wilde to the publication. LaBeouf said he "quit the film due to lack of rehearsal time" on August 17th, 2020. LaBeouf also shared screenshots of text messages sharing that the two saw each other in person on August 16th, 2020 and talked about him quitting. Wilde said, "Thanks for letting me in on your thought process. I know that isn’t fun. Doesn’t feel good to say no to someone, and I respect your honesty."

LaBeouf also emailed Wilde and asked her to please tell people that he left the movie and wasn't fired. He talked about his wife Mia Goth, who stars in the upcoming prequel movie Pearl, and their baby, and shared that he had 627 days of sobriety. He ended the email by saying, "Firing me never took place, Olivia. And while I fully understand the attractiveness of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that brings. It is not the truth. So I am humbly asking, as a person with an eye toward making things right, that you correct the narrative as best you can. I hope none of this negatively effects you, and that your film is successful in all the ways you want it to be."

Friction Between Olivia Wilde And Florence Pugh

Olivia Wilde cried watching Harry Styles in Don't Worry Darling but there has also been talk of Wilde and Florence Pugh not getting along. Based on the exchanges that were published in Variety, it sounds like Wilde wanted LaBeouf to stay on as Jack in the project. Wilde wrote to the actor and mentioned Pugh, and people took note because she called the actress "Miss Flo." The director wrote, “You know, I think this might be a bit of a wake-up call for Miss Flo, and I want to know if you’re open to giving this a shot with me, with us. If she really commits, if she really puts her mind and heart into it at this point and if you guys can make peace — and I respect your point of view, I respect hers — but if you guys can do it, what do you think? Is there hope? Will you let me know?”

There have been several news stories about Don't Worry Darling that Wilde says are not true. Variety reported that Showbiz Galore reported that Styles was paid $2.5 million for the movie and Pugh was only given $700,000. Wilde said in her interview that was not the case at all.

Page Six reported that fans are confused that Pugh isn't talking about the movie on her social media and is focusing on talking about Christopher Nolan's film Oppenheimer.

Wilde also recently spoke about wanting to include sex scenes in the movie that would show a woman's pleasure, but in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Pugh said that she wanted people to focus on the other parts of the film and not just these intimate moments.
