The main goal in Don’t Starve Together is to survive, like the title suggests. While there is a story mode for single players, the main objective when playing with friends is to try and live as many days as possible in the wicked land that players are sent to. Sadly, starving isn’t the only problem when it comes to the game. Some players even argue that finding food can be the easy part, it’s the Sanity that really does it for players.

However, like most survival games, Health is always an issue. Whether characters are starving, fending off dangerous foes, or trying to get through the night with the shadow creatures finding them, Health is an overall stat that all characters need if they want to survive the daunting world of Don’t Starve. Thankfully, there are several ways players can combat their stat levels dropping, especially Health, by protecting themselves from enemies. For example, these armor sets are some of the best in the game and can surely allow players to outlast fights to survive another day.

6 Log Suit

  • Durability: 315
  • Damage Absorption: 80%
  • Crafting: 8 Logs, 2 Ropes

The Log Suit is one of the first armor, aside from the Grass Suit, that players can craft. Due to its cheap crafting, this is a great, quick way that players can stay safe through the game. And thankfully, once the suit is low and another is made, this suit can be added to a campfire or fire pit as fuel instead of having to wear it out completely.

For a character that has 150 Health, this log suit will give them a great boost of 600 Health. Note that if the Werebeaver, transformed by Woodie, is active and wearing this armor, it does take 17 more damage.

5 Football Helmet

  • Durability: 315
  • Damage Absorption: 80%
  • Water Resistance: 20%
  • Crafting: 1 Pig Skin, 1 Rope

This is a simple crafting project for those wanting a little more protection, especially from the rain. What’s great about this helmet is that it can be given to friendly mobs, such as Pigs or Bunnymen, which will give them the damage protection it gives players.

While it can be crafted by Pigskin and Rope, it can also be found in Ornate Chests, which spawns in Ruins. This armor keeps players protected without losing the body slot, so players can still use Backpacks and Insulated Packs to help collect resources.

4 Marble Suit

  • Durability: 735
  • Damage Absorption: 95%
  • Movement Speed: -30%
  • Crafting: 6 Marble, 2 Rope

One of the more expensive suits, this armor takes 6 Marble and 2 Ropes in the Alchemy Engine. While it does take a lot of damage absorption, characters speed is reduced by 30% so getting away from a fight can be a little hard. This is a great suit for those who like to power through fights.

For players in a group, someone playing Wolfgang would be best at wearing this armor because they can in his Mighty form, the speed penalty has no effect on him. This item can be dropped as well as a possible drop from the Ancient Pseudoscience Station.

3 Bone Armor

  • Durability: 16 uses
  • Damage Absorption: 100% every 5 seconds
  • Obtaining: Dropped from Reanimated Skeleton and Ancient Fuelweaver

This suit completely blocks one instance of damage every 5 seconds, meaning that it will absorb 100% of the damage every 5 seconds, giving players a higher advantage during fights. Since it has 16 uses, players should try to kill enemies as fast as possible in order to make sure the armor doesn’t break mid-fight.

Thankfully, Nightmare Fuel can be used on the armor to refuel the durability by 4 points, for 25%. The Reanimated Skeleton has a possibility of dropping this armor as well the Ancient Fuelweaver. Also note that when the armor loses its durability, it will not disappear, it will stay in inventories, it will just have no effect until someone refills its durability.

2 Night Armor

  • Durability: 525
  • Damage Absorption: 95%
  • Sanity: -10% per minute
  • Crafting: 5 Nightmare Fuel, 3 Papyrus

Often used with the Dark Sword, this magical armor is a great asset to protect oneself for those that aren’t afraid of losing some Sanity (decreases Sanity by 10% of total damage taken). For those playing Maxwell on single player, this is one of his starting items.

Pairing this item with head wear that boost Sanity, for example the Tam O’ Shanter, can offset the Sanity drain and give players better protection without the unnecessary worry. There is a chance that it can be dropped by level three Shadow Knight, Shadow Bishop, Shadow Rook

1 Thulecite Crown

  • Durability: 840
  • Damage Absorption: 90%
  • Crafting: 4 Thulecite, 4 Nightmare Fuel

As one of the most expensive armor pieces in the game, the Thulecite Crown is a great tool for any gameplay, single or multiplayer. There is a chance that the crown can be found in a Large Ornate Chest or crafted with an Ancient Pseudoscience Station. The most vital part about this crown is that there is a 33% chance for it forming a force field when players are being attacks. Lasting 4 seconds, the crown will prevent all damage to the player aside from fire damage and will grant players a stun immunity.

While the force field is in place, 5% of the incoming damage is reduced from the Sanity stat, allowing players to survive longer in battles. It can occur more than once during battle, so it is likely for a player to barely receive damage during fights. The force field will also emit some light for the players to fight against Charlie and the shadows.
