The New 'Donkey Kong Country Returns' Trailer Is Bananas!

Donkey Kong Country Returns Review

Not since he started throwing barrels at Mario has there been this much excitement over a Donkey Kong game. Well, unless you happen to be an actual gorilla. We saw our first glimpse of the new Wii title back at E3, but since then we have not had much to go on, until now. Today we got our first look at the fresh new Donkey Kong Country Returns trailer, hot off the Nintendo presses.

True to its Donkey Kong Country Roots, this game appears to have some fantastic platformer action in a variety of different locals: sinking pirate ships, crystal caverns, archeology digs, and, of course, the jungle. Donkey Kong Country Returns looks to have some very dynamic levels. Add in, I hope, some creative uses of the Wii-mote, and interesting sounds, and fun graphics, Nintendo may well have a sure fire hit on their paws. Take a look at the new trailer for Donkey Kong Country Returns:

This new trailer gives us a peek at a couple of the game's bosses, as well as some of the unique ways Donkey Kong will have to get around this new world. I thought the rocket barrel looked the most fun, but nothing beats running along the jungle floor as a Donkey Kong. With a rating of E for everyone, Nintendo is no doubt hoping the new Donkey Kong Country Returns will be loved by generations old and new.

This release is another in Nintendo's continuing resurgence of classic titles, like Kirby's Epic Yarn and the Super Mario All-Stars collection. This reuse of classic titles is nothing new to Nintendo. From Mario to Yoshi and all characters in between, Nintendo knows how to make a beloved character work for them. They games can occasionally be hit or miss, but I think that Donkey Kong Country Returns is going to be a home run!

So what do you think, Ranters? Is this the right time for Donkey Kong to make his way back into our hearts? Do you think the use of the Wii-Mote’s unique controls will help or hinder this franchise? Does it just come down to the fact that fans will be thrilled to be able to enjoy Donkey Kong Country Returns? Tell us what you think!

Donkey Kong Country Returns is dated for November 21, 2010, exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
