In DKC Returns, the Super Guide will once again be a smooth transition during gameplay. If you manage to get killed eight times in any level, an omnipotent creature known as Super Kong will take over for you and breeze through the remainder of the level. Just like New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2, you will be free to take control back from Super Kong at any time and continue playing the level. Of course, any items the Super Kong collects while in control will not be transferred back to you after you resume.
I was one of the many players hesitant at the idea that Nintendo was basically building a GameShark into my new games, but after having been successful with their past two attempts I can't wait to see more. I can only hope that this means that the game will be challenging and rewarding enough that some players, like me, might occasionally require a little pick-Kong-up to get through the most difficult sections of the game.
Rant all you want, but I am in full support of the Super Guide at this point. How do you all feel about the system? Are you going to tell Super Kong he can go eat a banana, or will you give him a chance before you throw your Wiimote through the television screen?
