The $50-million defamation trial between veteran actor Johnny Depp and Aquaman star Amber Heard has quickly become a worldwide sensation, and it seems that everyone has an opinion on it, from Hollywood stars to high-profile political figures. Among the notable names weighing in on the libel case is Donald Trump, who recently made some comments on the ex-couple's legal drama.

Trump's post amassed 12,000 likes since it was posted (as of this writing), with several of his supporters adding their own quips and one-liners to the conversation. In contrast, on Twitter, where Trump's account had previously been suspended permanently, some users scoffed at his remarks, claiming that he is no different from Heard when it comes to falsehoods and displays of narcissism.

In true Trump fashion, the former U.S. President opted for controversy while speaking on his Truth Social platform. First, he called Depp and Heard a "lovely couple," sarcastically poking fun at the several claims of abuse that the two had made in earlier weeks. Then, he took a dig at the Washington Post, calling it a tiny outlet that practically nobody reads, before making a reference to the alleged bottle-throwing incident that almost severed Depp's finger. "She must have a Sandy Koufax-type arm," he jokingly wrote about Heard.

Meanwhile, new tensions have arisen as Depp's lawyer Camille Vasquez took center stage with her cross-examination of Heard. Vasquez grilled Heard on several points, even going as far as asking her who the "real monster" in the relationship was after Heard initially labeled Depp as such. Her performance was so well received that she gained a cult following of fans who applauded her for asking the tough questions. Despite Vasquez taking the spotlight this week, Trump did not include her in his earlier comments.

With just under a week left to go until the trial ends, there still does not seem to be a clear "winner" in the libel case so far. Despite the overwhelming public support for Depp, legal experts say that there is still a chance that Heard's testimony is enough to sway the jury in her favor. No matter the outcome of this trial, both Depp and Heard's lives will be forever changed, leaving huge question marks on their future career prospects.

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 17, 2023.
